That is incorrect. The excerpt I provided from the Dominion of Fire (albeit they do not name the 4 chapters) should alone be evidence of that. The fact that GW has kept all history vague gives me a whole lot of breadth to go with. World Eaters have been combating for many Millennium to provide skulls and blood. They did not merely sit around and wait for Armageddon did they?
No, it's really not. No other specific enemy is mentioned, at least not that I'm aware of. You want a nemesis, those are your official options.
If you want to make one up, then of course the sky's the limit. But as regard to official notable enemies of the World Eaters? Those are your options (and the BA are only on there because of the Siege of Terra).

The only issue are the vehicles available to each of the legions at the time of that battle. I could just play the 'suspension of disbelief' past that and do it. It was something I was looking at on the side. Just was not sure whether I should do 2 opposed Gods or Good Vs Evil. Hmmm. Yet more to read and consider... The other issue is the need for the removal of so much Fearless in that army list.
I don't think anything really pins the incident down in time - it's not current, but that's about it. And it'd be a lot more interesting than the usual "Space Marines/Guard variant vs. EVIL". Cool terrain possibilities, too. Ice world with frozen, empty obsidian cities.
In regard to fixing up the EC list, well, that could be a problem. Still. You'd seem to be stuck with that no matter what.
