Mephiston and I thought we'd start the new year off with a big game of Epic. The biggest we've ever played against each other, in fact. 6,000 points.

It was great, and was eventually decided on the very last activation of the game.

Mephiston took notes and plans to write up a report. But I took the photos, so I thought I'd kick things off with a bit of a teaser.

So, suffice it to say that this bad boy played a significant role in proceedings ...

Looking cool!

Which Craftworld was looking to spank the Imperator?  *laugh*

My thoughts exactly!

It was a Biel-Tan list, and we were using the basic tournament modifications.

I'm not sure when Mephiston will be able to post the full report, but until then here's a few more photos and things to set the scene.

I dream of having deluxe gaming facilities at home, with space for a huge table. Unfortunately, I don't have any of these things at the moment, but it was certainly a happy day when I realised that my dining table is exactly the same height as the radiator under the window. This means that, with a bit of shifting furniture and balancing of plaster board on the top of the radiator, a space big enough for an Imperator can be created ...

With a scattering of the terrain I've accumulated over the years, the table at the start of the game is shown below.

The beachhead bit was a last minute improvisation. I was actually going to buy one of GW's battlemats to cover the rest of the table, especially for the occasion, but apparently they have completely sold out at the moment. So a blue sheet and some bright yellow card saved the day. We imagined the sea was shallow and so treated it like a river (ie dangerous) for rules purposes.

Mephiston kindly allowed me to ally two armies together, the Guard and the AMTL, picking approximately 3,000 points of each. I used AMTL 3.12 and the tournament mods for the Steel Legion list (hooray for the upgunned Baneblade  :)) )

We made a compromise by saying that I would use the Guard strategy rating of 2 rather than the AMTL rating of 3. In return for this, the Legate in the Imperator could act as Supreme Commander for the whole army (I can't imaging anyone would be questioning his authority :( )

My list was as follows:

Titan Legion

Imperator Titan 1250
Legate 50
Carapace multilasers 25

Reaver Titan 575
2 x laserburner -
Plasma cannon 25
Sacred icon 50
Carapace multilasers 25

Warhound pack (standard armament) 500

Thunderbolt fighters 150

Thunderbolt fighters 150

Orbital support – Adeptus Mechanicus cruiser 150

Total 2950

Steel Legion

Baneblade company 500
Hydra 50

Infantry company 250
Fire support 100
Ogryns 50

Leman Russ company 650
Hydra 50
Hellhounds 150

Shadowsword 200

Shadowsword 200

Hydra battery 150

Rough riders 150

Vulture squadron 300

Artillery company – manticores 250

Total 3050

Grand Total 6000

Here they all are:

I couldn't go to bed without posting a shot of the big bruiser in action.

So here is the Imperator, during turn one I think, drawing a bead on Mephiston's trousers  :))

By the way, please don't any of you be thinking that that yellow dice on his base means that the god-machine has lost six shields or six wounds or anything ridiculous like that. HAH - are you crazy! That just means the legate still has his reroll  :)

Looks like it must have been a great game. Magnificent looking minis, especially the imperator.
