2 January 2005:
- I've now made my New Year's Resolutions for the upcoming year (2005).

These are my final resolutions:

1. HOBBY - I will run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game this year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is the plan.

2. HOBBY - I will build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain.

3. HOBBY - I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes. Part of this resolution will be to finish the Nid list that I have been working on for E-A.

4. PERSONAL - I want to get by the gym more often; the new job this year killed my good routine. I am vowing to go at least once a week and more realistically try for twice a week.

5. PERSONAL - I resolve to keep a cleaner apartment. To do this, I plan to do "maintenance" cleaning once a week on Sundays. I'm also planning on making Sunday "laundry day."

6. JOB - I want to run a good science elective for the students for the rest of the year and I'm looking into ways to do it.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I realise that this will be like playing with fire, but for some reason I was reminded of this recently. So, we are now half way through the year (OMG - where did the months go?) and I wondered whether there were any comments on the New Years Resolutions, as set out in January?

Hi CS,

1. HOBBY - I will run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game this year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is the plan.

I've got most of the materials and am in process of putting them together.

I still haven't decided on rules yet... probably "Monster Island."

0.5/1

2. HOBBY - I will build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain.

I'm most of the way there.

1/2

3. HOBBY - I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes. Part of this resolution will be to finish the Nid list that I have been working on for E-A.

I've done this and am close to finishing the E-A 'Nid playtest list. Of course, there's always more but the resolution was to work on the project, not complete it!

2/3

4. PERSONAL - I want to get by the gym more often; the new job this year killed my good routine. I am vowing to go at least once a week and more realistically try for twice a week.

Nope.

2/4

5. PERSONAL - I resolve to keep a cleaner apartment. To do this, I plan to do "maintenance" cleaning once a week on Sundays. I'm also planning on making Sunday "laundry day."

Yes.

3/5

6. JOB - I want to run a good science elective for the students for the rest of the year and I'm looking into ways to do it.

Yes.

4/6

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Oh dear.. Where to start...

- Finish Epic Cityfight Terrain

Nope... Still workingon it... Some progress has been made though.

- Finish Epic Imperial Guard infantry

Nope. Can't remember if it was this year I painted up a singel infantry coy though

- Finish Ultramarines (Only 20 tactical, 20 Devastator, 20 Mole Mortars, a bunch of Rhinos, Land Raiders and command stands to go...)
Ah this one is close! I only need to do the Dreadnoughts and command stands. ...However I plan to get some more Assault Marines and Devastators  + rhinos to make proper "Codex" reserve companies.

- Not to buy too many Feral Orks
This is good: They're not even released yet so I guess I can say so far so good...

- Only buy Revenant, Engines of Vaul and a few Falcons once Swordwind is released (I allready have way too much unpainted Eldar...)
Hmmm. Yes... Almost right... Still haven''t got the EoV but Unfortunately I'v begun to collect Eldar Knights....

- Finish Epic Grey Knights
Nope...

- Finish Epic Khorne army
Nope...

- Begin Epic Black Legion and Cultists.
Well I''ve got a few units glued up... but that's it.

- Finish BFG Imperial and Chaos fleets.
Chaos  fleet almost complete... Still some work on the IN though

- Re-work the Epic Lounge once I get better at doing web stuff
Woohoo! Check! ...Wait a minute... the new Lounge isn't up yet...

- Learning how to do Flash
Sadly haven't had the time

- Writing some articles for Incoming!
Check!

- Decide whether I should start a new study, go travelling or get a job once I graduate this summmer... (decisions, decisions)
Urgh... Right now the only thing on my mind is graduating at all...

- Get the feral Ork problem in by kitchen under control....

Yes... Still need to do that...

Cheers! :)

Well, since I dragged up the past so harshly, I guess that I should evaluate my progress as well. Deep breath, here we go...

Move and update the web site. New address, new look, new visitors and readers and popularity.

I did seriously think about this. It is still work in progress and I have definate plans, but so far it has not happened. It wll happen as soon as I can. I guess that is a no - 0/1.

Wedding bells are in the air for me at some point in 2005.

Well, this is actually still on! So, a yes - 1/2

Get a career, rather than a job.
Set down roots and get a house!

I have been looking around, but nothing yet. I am going to have to stop looking so that I can relocate (and sign a new rental contract). The new job is not on the horizon, but new accomodation is (soon, but not now). I will call that one of each - 2/3

Paint up at least one force for at least two games that will allow me to actually play them without borrowing minis or using unpainted ones!

Ah, yes, well... I did start my Orks, but they are still in the draw almost, nearly half way through... Damn - 2/4

Finish both my Epic Genestealer Cult and Crucible of Chaos Epic lists finalised, and a force painted up for each.

The Epic Crucible of Champions is currently being worked on behind the scenes, and there should be some very interesting developments very soon now. The Genestealer Cult will follow on after that. Does this count as a yes? Now - 3/5

Get another six issues of Warp Rift out, and get it more noticed.

Aside from issue eight, this is still going well. I will count that as a success so far - 4/6

So, four out of six is pretty good... until you discover that of those four, none of them have actually happened yet. They are either on target, or should happen in the near future!

So, not particularly impressive, but if I continue for the second half of the year then I will have at least four done. I just need to stay focussed.
