OK, gentlemen, a little brainstorming, if you will - what do you want to see in Adeptus Titanicus 3?

Answers on a postcard, or in this thread.

LOL :D  Yes, I dare not set my hopes too high either.

Well I'm not sure if there's anything particular but a few random thoughts:

-Damage system. Hit locations similar to SM/TL.

-Weapons ranges. I'm not sure about this one but in the original Adeptus Titanicus weapons had different efffectiveness at different ranges ie. short range increases chances to hit + potential damage.

-Weapon hardpoints: Buy the chassis for the titan and add as many weapons as you may want. You could have Warlords with only 3 weapons or "Super heavy" variants (predator) with more than 4 weapon systems but significant decreasing of  speed.

-A long list of upgrades like actual hardware upgrades for the titans (targetting systems, extra shields speed increase, COBRA, Cameleoine, Jump Packs, Relay etc.) but also Titan crew experience (add certain modifiers). This is of course mainly for campaign games but it does help to differentiate each titan and give them some unique character.

Cheers! :)

I would like something fairly detailed, allowing play with maybe three or four titans and allowing players to knock bits off their enemy and think tactically about how they use their machines. Hard points would be really great. In general, if it ever happens, ATIII is the opportunity to do a game with Titans that Epic just wont let you. Something along the lines of the old Battletech, although not quite SO in depth with heat points, etc. Damage locations, power usage to decide whether to channel power to movement or firing, and brutal close combat.

We like the AT1 rules the best, with modifactions ...  However, we use the SM1 standard of only 25% TBFL may be spent on Titans.  As we see Titans like Land Battleships and they would be well out numbered by standard forces of Infantry, AFVs, FA etc. ! :D

Hi!

Why re-invent the wheel?

AT1 with a few modifications and stream lining is good enough, IMO.

Actually It'd be interesting to hear about the possibilities for making the Adeptus Titanicus pdf's available. I guess it was because of Copyright issues that the EpiCentre couldn't keep them but how about the SG site?

Cheers! :)

Hi!

Yes, GW asked for it to be removed. So it was. :(

Hmmm... its an interesting idea; Jervis would probably support it; can't see how GW could argue with putting them up to be honest.

Yes. The only real issue as far as I can see, is people who want a system compatible with E:A. Obviously Adeptus Titanicus1 is a bit difficult to translate directly. The main thing to make sure though, it what all the necessary play aids and counters are made available too.

Personally I think an All titan game shouuld be kept all titan. I think Epic40k and AT2 got a bit messy in the end when Battlefortresses and other Superheavy tanks got involved.

Cheers! :)

Hi!

I think an "update" for AT1 to be epic A compatible wouldnt be too hard. Its far easier than scratch building one.

God I find this so pointless. I thought Adeptus Titanicus II was a waste of space in Epic Mag, and without infantry and vehicles, it was missing the overall battle atmosphere in a battle. It was more like a mortal kombat matchup.

I loved Adeptus Titanicus back in the day, but I loved it because you could create custom titans AND use infantry and vehicles. The two could be blended together and even though I thought the the rules for Titans in SM2/TL was clumbersome, I thought it was very fluid and balanced just right as far as rules governing different types of weapon systems.

But here we are today, recycling miniatures for another epic system that isn't needed and going to be played by very few people. And at $30-(eventually $40) a titan, who's going to be playing with more than two or three, and what kind of game is that going to be?

At least in AT/SM and SM2/TL, you got 6 Warlords in a box for around $30, but no that is the cost of one. If Jervis wasn't able to sell weapon bitz for Epic A, why is he going to be able to for AT III, and if he isn't, WHAT IS THE EXCITMENT FOR PLAYING ATIII????????

God I really think Jervis went about this so wrong, and I can see how much of a lukewarm response Epic si getting from the gaming community is proving that.

When I think of Epic, it's about the Titan's first. They are and always will be more exciting to look at, play, and are the centerpoint's of any army. The more interesting the Titans, the more exciting they are to play, build, and paint. THEN comes the mini tanks and infantry. Don't get me wrong, I love the little guys, but back in the old days each side had 3-6 titans on each side along with the infantry and tanks. You could field cheap or expensive Warlords. I played in a game where I had 6 just on my side alone (and they all got destroyed painfully quickly, but I still manage to win the game). I still think about the character makeup of those titans that were destroyed versus whatever infantry or tanks I had remaining that I actually won with. Now epic is about sweeping battles really only involving a battalion.

Everytime I here about AT III or his stupid air war game, it is that much more being taken away from a system that SHOULD have everything. The early systems had it, and Epic A should have gone that direction too.

Recycling the old Warlord sprue or making a new one would have done more for Epic than the stupid Baran Seige Masters. God I think about the resources Jervis has wasted. . . no wonder Fanatic got 'evolved.'

. . . okay, let me hear 2-3 of you chime in how much you love the Siege Masters!

Nope I don't like the siegemasters particularly!!

I don't know about ATIII - kinda too battletech for me. I like Epic big battles rather than skirmishes with big robots. I'd like a bit more detail and options with titans in EA and that would keep me happy.

One thing I miss from Epic40k was the more detailed crits, thought the epic40k ones were too detailed IMO. I think a D6 chart like warhamer 40k would be good - that way you can remember the crits by placing a D6 next to the titan. ?Also more weapon options. IIRC a weapons kit for warlords is still in the pipeliine for EA.

Hi!

I think it has always been a big battle between having epic be a "titan first, everything else second" game or an game with armies that just happens to have titans in it. Its kind of "damned if you do and damned if you dont", since going either way will make some sector of epic players be unhappy. The "happiest" compromise I can think of is to make a basic game for battles between armies and have a more detailed section for titan-titan battles. All in the same book.
