Does any one of you know a decent _free_ program with which to make animated flash banners and the like? I could use one...

I don't recommend flash banners, they take up bandwidth and not everyone can see them.

You can get a months free trial of Macromedias Flash if needed though.

What netepic said. Without very good reason (cartoons, games, complicated artistic things), I'd avoid Flash like the plague. Useful thing to know how to do, but I'd keep them to the absolute minimum for anything but those reasons.

Hum. A more constructive comment would be: if you absolutely have to use animation, try using an animated gif instead. That'll cut down on the incompatibility issues.

I definately agree, animated GIFs can be a good way to draw attention.

Make sure the file size stays below 12k though or dial up users will get narked!
