For my next trick, I'll finish my "stock" Reaver titan in Legio Victorum colours - a multi-role piece, it can either fight alongside the Mentor Legion forces or fight in the AMTL army :)

Hi,

Lots of lovely postal goodness awaited me this morning. The new Forge World catalogue (ok, nothing special), a little package of warbikes and boars from Justiniel, Ripping Yarns on DVD and the Blitzkrieg Commander rulebook (which I must say I am very impressed by). These should all keep me busy for a few days. :)

On the painting front, all of my Ork Warbands are undercoated, basecoated and drybrushed to clearly distinguish them. They just need the flesh and weapons picked out, but as there are so many, I shall be doing a few stands at a time in between the other formations.

Cheers,
Freshmetal

Mmmmhhh... Nothing like recieving fresh mail! :D

Still working on the FW Grey Knights. Land Raiders allmost done, Dreadnoughts likewise. Finished 1 stand of Termies ahead of the others to see roughly how they are going to turn out. The problem with the extra coat of paint means that some detail has been destroyed. Too bad, but at least my Power armoured GKs will not suffer from that same mistake.

Cheers! :)

Yep- Forgeworld do pretty good customer relations sending out catalogues free so quickly.

Noticed that some of teh BFG ships have gone up from ?9 to ?10 and other from ?12 to ?14. Will hold off on any BFG purchases for a while longer then methinks. Good news is their Epic Titans and SHT's are still at ?18. Will have to get some soon.

Also went down to post office to collect parcel waiting for me. It was a fully painted Epic force from USA, thanks to ebay. I know have 2,625 points of fully painted and based Crimson Fists. All that needs doing is some unit insignia that are curiously lacking on vehicles.

Cheers

James

Just as side note, I plan on painting all my Epic F/W models by hand (no spray paint, save for the Manta and Orca !). There is to much detail there to risk and as I said before the Eldar and G/Ks among others are really very, delicate ...

Well - nice to say it's a mixed bag for once, instead of To6g stuff :p  two projects, the Tzeentchian altar, and one of my favourite 40k models: Typhus. I took the liberty of adding a very minor (if visible) addition to him. Will post a pic when he's painted.

Blitzkrieg Commander rulebook (which I must say I am very impressed by).

Any chance of a 'first impressions' review of this? A friend of mine is very tempted by it, but I am less convinced by the ise of the Warmaster system for a modern theatre. What are major differences in the mechanics? Thanks.

Hi,

I'm planning on giving it a good read through tonight, so I'll post my first impressions tomorrow. Taking a look through the book however, I must say it is very well produced, with crisp pictures that show examples of play as well as being nice to look at. The actual rules only take up the first third of the book, with the rest being taken up with scenarios and army lists for every theatre of war from the Spanish Civil War to the end of WW2 (that's the way to do it GW!!!). I am a bit daunted by the army lists, as they're actual lists of the available armour and weapons for each period rather than GW-esque pick-and-choose list, so I'll have to see how easy it is to build a basic and effective army.

Anyway, I'll give it a read-through tonight and post first impressions tomorrow.

Cheers,
Freshmetal

Finished the GK Termies. Still need to do the bases though. As you can see a lot of the detail has been ruined -especially arround the heads and torso of the minis.  :(
Apart from that I'm pretty happy with these models. They sure are an improvement over my old GKs.

...And a few detail shots:

Cheers!  :)

Painted shields on epic-scale GKs? Incredible, Warmaster! They're terrific. :D :D

So THOSE are ruined?? I can't even begin to think what you do when you pull a perfect :O

If I had a camera I'd post a shot of that first magnetic BFG cruiser of mine. Tried to spray-undercoat it today, went horribly wrong... in the end I had to scrub with a toothbrush and file away the bubbling spray, then undercoat it by hand with black. I managed to somewhat salvage it, but it's still ruined, only less so. And the second cruiser is giving me huge problems just to assemble it...

So, in one week I managed to half-assemble one magnetic cruiser and to undercoat (and half destroy) another, while in the meantime you painted hundreds of minis for 4 or 5 different game systems to a standard I can only dream of, and you have the gall to complain :p

Hehe, well the ones in the closeups aren't the worst ones and I must say that the pics came out surprisingly well. I did what I could to cover up the heavy paint by painting some of the detail on by freehand. The problem is that the detail isn't sharply defined arround the torsos and heads which is a shame since they're such gorgeous sculpts.

Cheers! :)
