Hi Guys,

I thought I'd mention that things are OK so far. I still have the same problem children, but noone from admin has given me a hard time this week. I'm releived.

Yesterday during writing, I got some really low effort and there is a big writing test coming up. That's pretty disappointing.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

This came up on the 6mm_sci-fi group:

"How do you mount your 6mm sci-fi miniatures?"

I thought I'd share:

I base in the following way:

- Infantry
- Power armor

REGULAR LINE INFANTRY (RIFLES): The great majority of my regular infantry is mounted on 20x20mm (Epic squares) or 10mmx40mm (Epic rectangles) bases. Occasionally I use 15mmx40mm (DBA & DBM) or even 20mmx40mm (Warmaster, DBA, & DBM) for awkward or large pieces.

REGULAR LINE INFANTRY (RIFLES): I've also thought about using 1" steel fender washers, but haven't tried it out except for a small batch of Epic Space Marines. I have also started switching my Epic Tyranids (bug bad guys) over to 3/4" and 1" steel fender washers since bio-organic bad guys look much better on round bases. It seems to enhance their horde feel.

SPECIALIZED INFANTRY TEAMS: I mount command teams, heavy weapons, banner bearers, or many special infantry team pieces on 3/4" (25mm) steel fender washers to make them easily distinguishable.

POWER ARMOR, ROBOTS & THE BIG BOYS: Power Armor, robots and the rest of the big boys also get mounted on 3/4" or 1" fender washers.

TOWED ARTY & STATIC PIECES: I mount static pieces on large metal washers or appropriately-sized metal squares and rectangles. I try to either use steel fender washers in 3/4", 1" & 1&1/2" if possible for roundish pieces. For square pieces I try to use 20mmx30mm (custom) or 20mmx40mm rectangular (Warmaster, DBA, & DBM) steel bases.

MECHS, TITANS & REALLY BIG ROBOTS: I prefer to mount these on large steel fender washers, hex bases or even custom bases when others don't quite fit.

FLEXIBLY MOUNTED VEHICLES: I usually base vehicles with small rare earth magnets on the bottom so that they can be mounted on any metallic base I own. SO, essentially, I don't really base vehicles unless I have to. It's easier to have a flush magnet on the bottom of the mini and mount it if necessary. I keep a small pile of steel bases for my vehicles if I need them (for those gaming purists who insist on uniform bases).

VEHICLE TURRETS: I also mount my turrets with magnets and steel paper now so that they are all easily exchangeable and rotatable as well.

- Small vehicles
- Med vehicles
- Large vehicles
- Grav/hover

MAGNETIC BASING: Almost everything I own is now mounted on steel flats, washers or steel paper so that practically my entire collection can be securely stored on magnetic paper in tackle boxes or VCR tape cases.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I've got to get some magnetic paper.

Glad to hear things at work are at least somewhat better. Things in here are getting pretty interesting. I may end up in strike.

Hi Mojarn and Gang,

I'm feeling like a human being this week. :D

And I'm also slowly clearing out my backlog of debts and obligations.

I'm planning to do the following this weekend:

- Finish several game reviews for F&M Magazine.

- Finish my version of the Tyranid E-A list and post it to the official forums.

- Mail Dafrca the spare CI!

- Clean house.

- Clean up workbench and organize models.

- Model.

- Maybe board game with Jon.

Diana, the girlfriend, can't come this weekend (too much PhD work to finish). I offered to visit her but she's been too busy this week and doesn't like me to come unless her place is spic and span. I'm a more trusting sort. She can see my mess when I'm not immaculate.

We have a three-day weekend coming here.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Could you post that list here as well, Maksim? ?

I am interested in any variation of the old list, there hasnt been any work done on it in a while...either that or the fact that I dont go to the SG site anymore leaves me in the dark! ????

My 2cents,
Iblisdrax.

Today I was invited to dinner at my roommate's girlfriend's house. I didn't realize it was a set up... ???

We had dinner, which was fine (spaghetti & salad with strawberry shortcake & blueberries for dessert) and then we had to decide what to do for the evening...

Conveniently there was a SCRABBLE box left out. I suggested we play SCRABBLE... I had no idea what we were in for. Apparently Susan is the SCRABBLE equivalent of loan shark or hustler! Whoa!

We played two games:

Scrabble Game 1:
LARRY: 3rd
MAKSIM: 2nd
SUSAN: WON (Beat me by almost double my score! More than a hundred points! Yikes!)

Scrabble Game 2:
LARRY: 3rd
MAKSIM: 2nd
SUSAN: 1rst (Beat me by almost 40 points!)

Neither game was any kind of contest! :p

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Everyone,

I spent most of Sunday and part of Monday working on the new Tyranid list for E-A and then I worked on lesson plans for this week. I'm aiming to have the new list done by the end of this upcoming weekend.

Yesterday, my roomate and I rented two movies:

1. "The Forgotten" - pretty good but freaky.
2. "The Empire Strikes Back" - Still a classic, got to love AT-ATs!

Today (Tuesday 22 February 2005) was not the best day at school. Two of my boys had a fight at lunch over very little (long story) and one of my other boys had a tantrum and kicked his desk over. That pretty much ALWAYS destroys the lesson and I had to get him out of the class. I just e-mailed his mother since I can't speak with her since she is usually in surgery (that's what she does for a living).

At any rate, it was a long day! (And my Ovaltine is almost out...) :;):

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I love "The Empire Strikes Back." The only Star Wars movie where the bad guys actually get something done. }:)

AY-ATs are nice but my favorite is the Super Star Destroyer. I wish I was as good at scratchbuilding as the guys who made that!

Sorry to hear about those incidents at work. :(

I have the "Epic scale" AMT AT-ATs in my SM Rgts!

One each with the UMs & DAs. And the wrecked one that came in the box is a terrain piece... belonging to the Traitor SMs, Son's of Horus! :D

Hi Markco,

I think I might be able to help you in the near future. I've been arranging some trading with some Star Wars people.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
