Woohoo, just released, tau recon pack plus turret variants for Hammerheads

Hello to you all once again. In this issue of the Forge World newsletter we have quite a few new releases, 40K, Warhammer and Epic 40,000 too.

Forge World has quite a reputation for making some of the biggest and certainly the most detailed resin models in the world. Five years ago even we thought an Imperial Guard Baneblade was huge and that was the largest model we would ever make. Oh, how wrong we were? Take a look at this ladies and gentlemen, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/chaosd1.htm This mighty beast is the result of over six month?s incessant work by our very own monster supreme, Daniel Cockersell. In terms of the sheer amount of sculpting, Dan thinks this is the largest model he has ever made. (So far...) So how big is it really? How does 280mm tall, 400mm wide and 400mm deep sound? (That?s about 11 inches and 15? inches in old money.) As you can see from the photos, the new Chaos Dragon dwarfs the Bloodthirster which shocked a lot of people last year with how big it was! Beautiful, fine detailing is almost commonplace on Forge World models and every few newsletters I tell you that this new model has to be seen to be believed. Dan?s new Chaos Dragon is one of these models you just have to see. There is absolutely no doubting that this Dragon has been corrupted and overcome by the malevolent power of Chaos. It is quite obvious that at some point the Dragon?s original single head and neck ripped in two, while a terrible hunger burning in its belly seems to have taken on a life of its own. Across huge areas of the Chaos Dragon, its skin has sloughed away to reveal the mutated muscles and veins of this once proud and noble creature. This monstrous Dragon would make an amazing centrepiece to any Warhammer Chaos Army and, if you wanted, could be used to represent Galrauch, the very first Chaos Dragon in games of Warhammer. You might have noticed that I really, really like this model and I have high hopes of seeing one or two entered into Golden Demon.
The Chaos Dragon is available to pre-order right now on the Forge World mail order phone lines and at http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalo....11.html These pre-orders will be sent out in the order that we receive them from Monday March 14th.

Our range of 40K tank commanders have always been very popular, and I think that using one can make a vehicle that little more special and unique to your army. Of course Forge World has made many Tank Commander figures for our large and ever growing range of Imperial Guard tanks but today we have our first Tau Tank Commander. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/tautc.htm Designed by Mark Bedford, the Tau Tank Commander fits neatly into the turret of a Hammerhead or Devilfish while holding onto the edge of the cupola. Mark?s Tau Tank Commander is available to order right now, no waiting around for pre-orders this time as we already have stock of this great little figure in our warehouse downstairs. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QU ... AU_15.html

Carrying on the Tau theme for another few minutes, Daren Parrwood recently completed work on several new Epic 40,000 Tau models. Daren has taken all four Hammerhead variants he designed for 40K last year and faithfully re-produced them in Epic 40,000 scale. Not content with that, he also took time to re-scale both the Tau Piranha and Tetra for us to release together in the Epic 40K Tau Recon pack. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalo....14.html Once again, we have already got all five packs in stock and are ready to ship out right now.

Next up today are some old favourites. Over the next number of months Forge Word will be re-releasing selected models from our Showcase, Collectors and Bust series. These models will only be available for a limited time and only in very limited numbers, so don?t wait too long if you see one you really want! Firstly we have the huge Orc Warlord Grotfang riding his large and hairy Warboar, one of our largest figurines and, unless I?m remembering wrongly, one of the first models Simon Egan sculpted for Forge World. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/grotfang.htm
Grotfang is a great model to paint and is covered with lots of little details like the bite out of the Boar?s ear, the hair-squig on Grotfang?s arm and the many piercings all over the Boar! Grotfang on his pig measures a good 230mm/9inches tall.
Now we only have a very few of Grotfang available, so if you want one please give us a call! Next is one of our most popular Collector?s Series figures, the Night Goblin Spearman. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/nightg.htm
Measuring in at a healthy 120mm/5 inches tall, the ?Ickle Goblin? as he is known around the office, is armed with a battered shield and spear and has a lot of character in that nasty little face of his. Thirdly, we have a bust of a 100mm/4inch tall Chaos Space Marine made by Daniel Cockersell. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/csm.htm
The iconography on this model is such that you can paint the Chaos Space Marine to be from any of the Traitor Legions, or perhaps use it as a scenery piece in games of 40K, as part of a fallen Chaos idol? All three of these models are available right now at http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/LI ... ITEMS.html

Finally today a bit of an update for some of the shows Forge World will be attending over the next month or so. March will see us up in Scotland for Conflict! Edinburgh on the 13th. Later that week we will be jumping on a plane and whizzing over to the USA for the first Games Day of the year, Games Day Atlanta, on the 19th. We?ll be back over to California for Games Day Los Angeles on April 9th and one of our designers, Will Hayes, will be coming too. He?ll be there to talk to you all about what he has made and show you some of what he is working on at that moment. A couple of weeks later will see Forge World having a very busy weekend indeed. On Saturday April 23rd we?ll be attending Salute! 2005 in London and Games Day France in Paris the very next day! Mark Bedford will be coming with us to Games Day France and will be displaying many of his projects and answering your questions Forge World would like to ask for any reservations you want to make for collection at any of these events. Either give one of our guys a call on the phone or drop us an email titled ?Forge World Reservation? forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk with your name, the event you want to collect your order at and the list of what you want us to pack up especially for you.

Stop the press! More Elysian Drop Troops should be appearing in the next Forge World Newsletter, coming soon to an inbox near you! Thx,

Ewen Little.
Forge World.

Ooh, did poor ickle Bloodthirster get scared by the nasty dragon then/

Ok, nice beastie - except (well, at least in my book) for the extra, chaos head in his belly, below the other two. It changes it from majestic to Warhammer comic style - not comic as in funny, but as in graphic style.

As for the Epic Tau - Wau! - er, I mean wow! Really, really nice, especially the Piranhas; the Tetras are pretty too, although I still can't figure out how the pilot sees where he's going. Cameras, I'd guess. But the Piranha is gorgeous. As is the whole Tau range. FW should be proud of this lot. And it's one of the very few Epic armies I've got nothing of - waaah! :(
