Hi all,

Home again for a week or so with some personal family buisness that needs attention. ?At least that menat I could be home on Australia Day, which I spent in the time honoured and traditional manner - at the beach and having beers and a BBQ!

I see you have all been busy in the interim from the plethora of posts! ?Some nice WIPs there. ?There is no way I can comment on them all so:

L4 - Feeling better yet? ?Hows the Slammers game and novels going?

Maksim - glad your second visit from the Principal went better! ?Have you sen that Chaos stuff yet?

Dafrca - congrats on the promotion

Stormy - good job the the competition!

Iblisdrax - sadly no drinking at sea for Officers in the RAN.  I fondly remember my 2 years in the Royal Navy where no such restrictions applied!

WMN - cool new Avatar!

Vanvlak - got your Nefs yet? ?I'm still waiting for my rules to arrive!

All - thanks indeed for the well wishes. ?Most appreciated.

I'll have a bit here then back to sea and a quick trip to KiwiLand ?- where do you live Markconz? ?I'll be in Napier and Auckland for 2 days

ciao!
Tas

HI Tas !!!  Glad to hear from ya !!!  New drugs from the Docs and I'm feeling somewhat better ... hopefully by spring/summer, I'll only be taking vitamins !  :D  Read H/S Handbook/rules, pretty good, but a bit simplistic.  Great pics, drawings and background.  Just started H/S "The Butcher's Bill", great reading !  And Happy "A-DAY"!  No BBQ here ... it's 6 degrees F !!!     :;):  Welcome back to landfall, sailor ! :D

Hi!

Safe voyage Tas!  Sadly I'm down south in Christchurch, Whereabouts in Aussie are you again?! After recieving a research award ($) from university for this year, I'm seriously considering popping across the ditch to Melbourne in late April around ANZAC day for the international wargames federation world championships:

http://www.nwa.org.au/dbx/MelbIWF/IWF2005.html

The DBX family of games, plus Flames of War (FOW) are offered and I would be playing DBM (15mm ancients), which is my other major period of interest apart from epic.  Quite a few Kiwis are attending I believe. I'm going to be on quite a tight schedule with 3 days of competition followed by a day or two of seeing the sights with the GF (who would be shopping while I wargame!), then I have to rush back to NZ continue my experiments at uni, (hopefully carrying some sort of trophy :D ).

Markconz - I'm in Sydney but used to live in Melbourne and its a great place to visit.  Sadly, I'll be at sea again and will miss that event though I'd love to go in the DBA Comp....oh well.  Maybe we'll catch up next time...

That reminds me Tas- I don't think I apologised to you that I did n't respond to your post suggesting we meet up when I was in Sydney a couple of weeks back. Sorry about that but I did n't have great e-mail access over the last couple of days that I was in New Zealand. I was too busy doing stuff like white water rafting!! :)

In the end I only had the one day in Sydney on my way back and I caught up with my relatives who were out in Penrith. So did n't get to spend any time in Sydney town centre at all, apart from quick drive across the bridge on the way back to the airport.

Maybe next time...

Cheers

James

Yes Tas, It appears I'm "healing" slowly... so I remain hopeful... :;):

And I continue my journey into Hammer's universe. E-mailed Old Crow about 6mm H/S. A big, big, big, maybe in the far distance future!

Slammers vs. IG, SM, Chaos, etc.!!! :o :;):

L4 - glad to hear it mate!

I remain skeptical about 6mm Slammers though would welcome it with open arms (its the ONLY scale for such battles), GZG promised me this 5 years ago...

------

WI - Not probs, hope you enjoyed Sydney and maybe catch you next time! ?

I have had poor luck catching up with anyone, despite 2 trips to the US and now NZ , I've only managed to catch up with L-4 by phone!

Hi Tas,

Maksim - glad your second visit from the Principal went better!

Thanks, Tas.

Have you sent that chaos stuff yet?

No, I have not yet.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Thanks, Maksim! ?

Just wanted to make sure that the empty spot on my desk shouldn't already be overflowing with plastic and metal!

You got that right, Tas! ?

6mm is the only scale to fight these battles! ?

And as I said, we'll have to wait and see... not like I don't have other stuff to ?work on! :;): ?

Yep, I remember Tas calling, he was on the west coast of the USA and I was a couple of thousand miles away to the East in Ohio! ?

But we had a good connection and great conversation! :D

I'm back in Sydney now after my compassionate trip to Melbourne. ?I have two days at home before returning to my ship at sea.

The Banner Library is very slowly coming along, but I haven't had a chance to look at it this time. Hopefully when I get back from NZ at the end of the month...

Cheers!
