Quote (Warmaster Nice @ 23 2005 Jan.,15:19) | A few more ?updates: 2 Repulsives and 2 Devastations
I'm probably going to re-do the pics of the Chaos ships for the Epic Lounge. It's been pretty hard to find some good lighting for shooting the pics.
Cheers! | Nice pics - they lok really good. I don't know if it is the lighting to which you were referring but I really like the muted colour scheme for Chaos ships.
Too many undivided Chaos fleets look too Khornate as everyone tends to follow the original pics of the GW studio fleet, which were (IMO) too red and shiny.
If I had n't committed myself to doing a large Iron Warriors BFG fleet then I would be severely tempted to give your colour scheme a try.
Cheers
James

Nice planet killer! While we are all shamelessly asking for more pics, could we get a close-up of that structure in the center of the PK (in te circle)? It looks pretty neat. CF

It is a part which comes with the Planet Killer Kit. It is supposed to fit inside the hole in the middle of the ship but I placed it on top to keep a streamlined look to the added superstructure of the ship. Here's a quick pic. Sorry that it iis a bit blurry; I accidentally shook the camera a bit.
Cheers!

Very nice, and I like the use of turrets for lances. But, what did you use to space out the left and right weapon pallets for the second one?

Excellent minis, I like the widened pallets on the Acheron.

Very nice, and I like the use of turrets for lances. | Thanks Actually I didn't know that there was a difference as I've used the turrets supplied with the Chaos spure indiscreminately.
The Acheron was really simple: I wanted my ship to look like the one in the Blue Book (though stats wise it doesn't make much sense) with an entire broadside of lances. Unfortunately the ship looks really skinny compared to a Slaughter when you do this. To solve the problen you take the upper part of the cruiser hull, saw off the prow and the rear so you have the weapon bays as a seperate piece. Make a cut down the middle to split it in half and add a piece of balsawood or plasticard approx. 1 cm. wide. Re-assemble the ship as normal. To add a bit of texture to the widened part I then added a few strips of plasticard. I suppose you could add some more detail but the main thing is simply to avoid too many bare areas. The turrets themselves do a lot to cover up the new parts.
Cheers!

I mentioned in another thread that I've been remoddeling the Retaliator a bit. Here's the result. I had originally just assembled the ship straight from the box and almost completed the paint job. However I just couldn't stop thinking that the ship looked strangely ...erh... detatched... Like it was just three seperate sections which barely fit together.
I decided to reposition the launch bays further backwards on the hull, connecting them to the rear section of the ship. Bring out the saw and files!!! It sounds really easy but in fact it was a real pain to get to work as the model is allready pretty hard to get assemble. The result meant that I also had to reposition the prow a bit. I also added a few bitz and pieces like aerials (it is a carrier aafter all) and turrets (I allways wondered why they didn't model them onto the ship in the first place...)
The areeas which needs repaiinting has been undercoated black but I think you get the general idea of whatt has happened...
Cheers!

You have started to get some increasingly heretic tones lately, dear warmaster. Perhaps an Inquisitorial investigation is in order...?
Then again, I guess your Imperial fleet needs some practice targets.

Ah, see h?story repeat itself. From my perspective I am just taking a dualistic approach to wargaming
Cheers!
