I've been looking over my guard... I think I need to order a couple of packs of Chimeras... which appear to have gone down in price a little - less than 2 bob each these days!  Are these all just a standard stripped down E40k version?

Had a brush with an uglier side of our beloved hobby today...

...the annual budget chat with my wife....

You see, unlike many households, its my wife who does all the family finances and budgets, a necessity when I can be away for months on end. ?But that also means that my "secret gaming account funds" are anything but sceret. ?

She showed me how much I have spent this year on gaming, which I honestly thought was a reasonable amount- I'm sure you guys concur also :D ? When she obejcted, I pointed out that I have not purchased a single new miniature since EA was realeased, only the rulebook. ?Strangely, she didnt think this was as amazing as you guys probably will :p

So I booked her in for a manicure and pedicure and now all is forgotten. ?
What we will do in the name of wargaming! :;):

Thanks! ?Gotta do a little schmoozing now and then to calm the waters...

BTW Black Gobbo 30 is now out and has some good terrain tips for building cliffs:
http://us.games-workshop.com/e-zine/iss ... efault.htm

Apart from some nice "how-to" pics, it had the most amazing comment that I NEVER thought I would read in a GW product:

"Instead of painting the Cliffs with Citadel Colour Paints, I decided to try a product made by Woodland Scenics called Liquid Pigment Earth Color Kit (C1215)"

:o
NOT advocating use of a GW product? :O

Amazing... :-:

Just ordered the Hammer's Slammers, mini wargame rules book, from the UK.  Don't know why !? :D  But since I'm reading the series, and like it very much, this looked kind of cool  !  Might even have some rules we could add to our Epic rule conglomeration ! :;):  Like the anti-FA systems rule (Calliopes), from the board game based on the books. Been playing with that idea. Maybe AAA weapons in Epic could be AFA too !  Just some musing !  Like I got time to add rules to our hybrid system ! :o

Played first Full 2700 point game last night, using all the rules.  IG vs Eldar, with the IG pulling out a slim victory 2-0 in the 3rd turn.  Wasnt organized, as we are still feeling out the rules, but perhaps the next game I will be able to get a battle report.

:D :D :D

Who makes that game? As an incurable rules collector I'm probably interested... :;):

I was going through my main bitz box to see what suitable Titan/Gargant weapons I had left. I've had a few plans about maybe doing a Divisio Investigatus Warlord (But then again in the progress-phobic 40k universe that's getting unfluffy ??? ) a Daemonic Reaver and a second Banelord (I feel more confident in my abilities with Green Stuff now so I plan to sculpt my own chaosy bitz), and finally the scratch built Knights.

Also I had some unfinished Gargants which I wasn't completely happy with so tonight I've been cutting and slicing. The result is 3 Great Gargants and a MegaGargant. Just some more armour plating to and and they're finished. I like the new look somewhat better: one GG is a shooty gargant, another specialized in Close Combat and a third is based more or less on the "Kustom Gargant" profile from the OGBM list. Finally the MegaGargant is also equipped with a bunch of long range Big Gunz.
With the few pieces I had left I wanted to do another Steam Gargannt for my Feral Orks and a Grotnought or two. Then somehting odd happened: I sort of chopped up a perfectly good and painted Gargant for parts! ...Well it was an old scratch build anyway and I needed the pieces so I hope I'll forgive myself in the morning.

It is strange but as of lately I've been much happier scratch building and converting than actually getting anything painted. ...I've gone through two packs of Green stuff and a bottle of Superglue in the past month alone! In the same time I've only painted a few Marines and the BFG Space Station. ??? :( :p

Cheers! :)

Like you've got time to write them down for us!  :p

The 25mm and 15mm Slammers figs are excellent, but they ahvent got around to 6mm verison yet sadly.  I asked when they would at SALUTE 02 but they had no incliunation.  Pity as its the ONLY scale to properly do such "Rolling Hot" games.

Hmmm....200mm powerguns....

Sorry Tas ... I'm a slug !  We talk  about rules but never get anything done about it, hardcopy ! :o :;):  But I'll let you guys know what I think of the H/S book/rules when I get it !  And yes, the models are very nice and I have a great H/S modeling/gaming site.  I go to it often. And as you know I recently bought the old Mayfair H/S board wargame and all the H/S books before that.  Reading the 3rd book now, "Caught in the Crossfire".  It'd be nice to have an H/S force in 6mm.  GZG has some 6mm AFVs and Infantry models that could be used. But I got so much Epic to do, the last thing I need is more models to build!  But it would be interesting to see how an H/S unit would fare against an Epic army.  I think the Slammers would give any G/W Epic force "a run for the money"!     :;):

I've been finishing the gargants today. I have a few spare pieces which might be turned into either a Steam Gargant or a regular gargant at some point but for now I think I better concentrate on getting these finished. I have my eyes set of a few bitz which might make a good basis for a Grotnought too. Only problem is to find the time to do them and the space to store them in -Honestly: 11 Gargants of various classes should be enough for most people!

I snapped these quick pics. It might be a bit difficult to get a proper imppression of the models since they all contain various painted and unpainted pieces mixed together.
I'm particularly happy with the Mega Gargant and the second Gargant top row. Now I only need to crack open those paint bottles!

Cheers!  :)
