Today (Sunday 2 January 2005) I am going through the Mega-trade boxes (Need to clean up the living room and deboxing the items into bags and smaller containers greatly frees up room!).

I also have some school administrative items and...

A ton of laundry!  :(

Too much excitement for me today! :)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

2 January 2005:
- I've now made my New Year's Resolutions for the upcoming year (2005).

These are my final resolutions:

1. HOBBY - I will run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game this year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is the plan.

2. HOBBY - I will build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain.

3. HOBBY - I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes. Part of this resolution will be to finish the Nid list that I have been working on for E-A.

4. PERSONAL - I want to get by the gym more often; the new job this year killed my good routine. I am vowing to go at least once a week and more realistically try for twice a week.

5. PERSONAL - I resolve to keep a cleaner apartment. To do this, I plan to do "maintenance" cleaning once a week on Sundays. I'm also planning on making Sunday "laundry day."

6. JOB - I want to run a good science elective for the students for the rest of the year and I'm looking into ways to do it.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Wishing all members a great 2005!

I had a great year gaming:

- Played Phantoms during the beginning of 2004 simulating the Korean Air War and many air battles from the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

- Played in a W.W.II Battleground campaign.

- Ran a huge Epic-Armageddon game at the gaming convention called CONQUEST 2004.

- Played in tons of other miniature games with local friends including Zombies, Post-Apocalyptic Mad Max, Fantasy skirmish, and even historicals.

- Played numerous board games throughout the year including Puerto Rico, San Juan, Guillotine, Settlers of Cataan, Settlers of Canaan, Lord of the Rings, and many more.

- I'm looking foward to playing more 6mm sci-fi and moderns in 2005.

- I'm planning to run a giant monster game at CONQUEST 2005.

Looking forward to 2005!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Tas,

I have most of the chaos stuff sorted and will start packing it up for you. Much of it is damaged (Especially the fiddly chaos infantry stands), but I'm sure that you will still want it! :D

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Daniel,

Dafrca: Not yet, I am thinking they will be light because of the issues I had last year. I will keep them down to a minimum and keep them focused. Not so general, like the old "Be Nicer" etc.

I highly recommend posting them publically. It will help keep you to them. I also like to keep a piece of paper with them in my wallet and check periodically so I don't forget about them.

*** How are Trish and the children? ***

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Piece of advice.

What you say you will try to do, won't work.

Do what needs doing when it is needed (don't wait until Sunday), especially when it comes to Laundry.

If the shower needs cleaning on Tuesday, do it on Tuesday don't wait.

Tidy things up when you have finished with them, don't wait until Sunday.

This way you will have Sunday free and your apartment will be cleaner.

Thanks buddy, looking forward to it indeed!

- Sad to hear of the damages, and they have another long journey ahead of them yet, but I'm sure much can be salvaged.
- Besides, its not like a chaos army doesnt have its mutants and disfigured members is it? ? ?:D

- Thanks again and good luck with those resolutions!

Tas.

These are so much fun when run properly.
The hard part is to balance the stomping action and fun vs the game mechanics. ?
My DVD collection includes the original Japanese release of Godzilla plus a few others...

- What rules are you planning to use? ?
- A commercial set like "Monster Island" or something home-grown?

Tas.

Hi Jimbo,

Tidy things up when you have finished with them, don't wait until Sunday.
This way you will have Sundays free and your apartment will be cleaner.

I do alright now, but the problem is that I often put off the big chores like mopping the kitchen floor. I figure that dedicating one day a week as the responsibility day will help motivate me.

As far as laundry goes, I have about three to four weeks worth of clothes so I only have to wash once a month, but I should rather wash about once a week and not let it build up.

*** How do you do it, Jimbo? ***

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I still think that you are ALMOST ALWAYS RIGHT! :D

P.S.S.
Thanks for the advice!

Beleive it or not... I have only ever seen two Godzilla movies. I hope to rectify that this year.

I haven't decided yet.

My good friend Greg loves the genre and has written his own set of rules. I'll probably use a hybrid of all the rules I've seen.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I'm ready for some OGRE this year as well.

BREAKING NEWS:
MEGA-Trade Almost Completely Sorted!

I just finished removing all of the MEGA-trade items from their shipping boxes to storage boxes. Yeah! :D

The next step is to sort out the bags into individual items.

I have about eight bags stuffed full of the mini-ruin pieces that come with infantry bases so I'd like to share the wealth with those. I'll NEVER use that many!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Well you have to at least see some Mecha-Godzilla and Mothra action! ?:D

The Monster Island series is very good, easy to play and probably just right for a demo type game. ?At least it would be a great starting point to adapt them for your own use.

Whatever you use, I'd be interested in seeing them!

Tas.

P.S.
I am way past ready for some OGRE action, but simply cant face rebuilding my website from scratch... ?:{

Hi Tas,

There are basically two commercial giant monster game rule sets out there:

1. Monster Island

2. Giant Monster Rampage

I like the detail of GMR better but MI is well... more "lovable" for lack of a better word.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
