Well, those are the kind of movies Firefighters would see...

Sort of like I'd go see "Saving Pvt. Ryan," "Blackhawk Down," etc.! :;):

Operation Bodenplatte Air Game - 60th anniversary - January 8th, 2005!

My friend Rob's January game:

Operation Bodenplatte Air Game Reservations now being taken for January 8th, 2005.

In case anyone is looking to get an air gaming fix in the month of January, I will be running an Operation Bodenplatte game on the second Saturday of the month, in Sacramento (January 8th). ?It will be played at the Rancho Cordova Library, starting around noon. ?Setup for the game will commence around 11:00 AM.

The event is a recreation of the surprise German attack on the Allied airfields, on the European continent using 1/300th scale miniatures.

Since this is the 60th anniversary of the attack, plus a week, it was just too good to pass up. ?As many may be aware, the operation was a marginal success for the Luftwaffe, but is an interesting battle regardless, and should make for a fun afternoon.

Basically, it will be a low level attack on the Allied airfields, conducted by Luftwaffe fighters, and the Allies will be trying to defend their aircraft and runways by any means possible. It should be a real confused dogfight conducted just above the ground, which will make for fast, but deadly play. Each gamer will pilot one, or more planes, and those unlucky enough to be shot down immediately will be added back into the game to try their luck again.

To make things a bit more competitive, points will be tallied for aircraft destroyed, and damaged, and the high scoring Allied and Luftwaffe pilots will be given a 1/300th scale airplane to commemorate the event.

We will be using QRF's Duel of Eagles rules, which don't require a hexmat for maneuvering, with some special rules thrown in to provide adequate color for the scenario. ?Experience with the rules is not necessary to play, since they are easily taught in a short period of time.

There will be a lot of eye-candy to please the die-hard miniatures gamer, and to provide a nice feel for the terrain over which the battle was fought.

You are also invited to bring your own plane(s) to fly, if you wish, but they will be limited to ones appropriate for the battle. ?American and British fighters appropriate are the: P-47 and P-51 (both variants for each), and the Typhoon, Tempest, and Spitfire IX, XIV, and XVI. ?For
the Luftwaffe: FW-190A and D, and the Me-109G and K. ?Let me know if you wish to bring your own aircraft, since we will need to discuss mounting and aircraft stand systems to ensure they will work for the low level nature of the game.

There are a limited number of player slots, and I need to keep the pilot ratios in balance, so send me an e-mail message, if you want to reserve a spot for the scenario. ?Please also state if you have a preference for
sides, e.g. Allied, or Luftwaffe, and if you will be bringing your own aircraft. ?Note, gaming slots will be provided on a first come, first served response basis, but I will also maintain a waiting list. ?Players must check
in for the game by 11:50 AM, on the day of the game, or their slot will be given to alternate players that show up for the game on time, if there is a lot of demand to play. ?

I will inform everyone if that is the case, by
posting on the M_W_S Yahoo Group.

My e-mail address is:

RKentJr@hotmail.com

This event is being run as part of the Miniatures Wargaming Society of Sacramento, or MWSS. ?There will probably be at least one other game run at the library on this date, although nothing firm is scheduled as of
today, in case you or a friend are interested in another period, or type of game.

Check the M_W_S site periodically for photos of the terrain to be used in the game, as well as some of the aircraft doing battle over the Ardennes.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Rob.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

That sounds great, I take it you're going Maksim...

Don't forget full battle report to entertain all us unlucky ones (i.e. those who never get a game :( )!

Mind you it sounds as if it's going to be difficult to keep track of...

Hi Justiniel,

I have to go. My good friend, Rob, is running the game. He'd be a might disappointed if I didn't go, especially after the many airgames that I've shot him down in.

Don't forget full battle report to entertain all us unlucky ones (i.e. those who never get a game ?)!

I'll do my best to record the Bodenplatte Air Game .

No maybe here either, but seeing as I'm third dibs, if not farther, I'll have to live in hope.

And, of course I've read Zombie Town, do you really think I would miss it :D

Hey Maksim,

Just found this thread, your self control is amazing, I would be tearing into the boxes, but, beware the little ones, they are packed with small styrofoam balls - they love static and fly everywhere.

The heaviest of the three 19" monitor boxes contains lots of the trading card storage boxes I sent you in the first order.
I suggest you get a bunch of storage/sorting bins from the local home depot in order to sort out/inventory the collection.
There are lots of Gothic and Epic sprues in this order as well.

Have fun, It would be fun to see the look on your face as you dig into the boxes.

My wife says, take pictures (of your face)......

best regards

Dalton

*whimper*  :p

Maksim, I would love to see exactly what this huge lot has for you, and 'group shot' pictures would be great. I would be interested in anything unclaimed for Epic, in particular out of production stuff, tyranids and squats.
