Someone beat me to this. I was going to ask how the last set of resolutions went for anyone, but I was afraid to be reminded of mine!
They were:
I have one resolution really, to get more focussed. I seem to run around a lot and not get much done, when I should concentrate on one thing until it is completed.
|
I didnt do too badly on this, but it is sometimes difficult to tell. For 2005, my resolutions so far (*) are:
- Move and update the web site. New address, new look, new visitors and readers and popularity. - Wedding bells are in the air for me at some point in 2005. - Get a career, rather than a job. - Set down roots and get a house! - Paint up at least one force for at least two games that will allow me to actually play them without borrowing minis or using unpainted ones! - Finish both my Epic Genestealer Cult and Crucible of Chaos Epic lists finalised, and a force painted up for each. - Get another six issues of Warp Rift out, and get it more noticed.
2005 will be a big year for me! That will do for now, but I am sure that there will be more.
* Resolutions subject to change without notice.

Quote (Justiniel @ 15 2004 Dec.,20:08) | CS and Maksim, about time you joined the club Modelling just isn't the same without a wife to nag you, and kids to tamper with everything. | Absolutely- I keep finding my 4 yr old son wandering around with bits of the the two Warlords I'm trying to resurrect at the moment. Frustrating, but admirable enthusiasm!

Well congrats Maksim and Ian. Do you accept Epic as Wedding presents?
Cheers!

Afraid I havent had a chance to read the whole thread, but I have one main resolution:
Gain some stability.
This last year has been great & I've built up a decent background of customers & a portfolio of painting & sculpting, and to be honest had more success than I thought I would on the painting scene (bear in mind I only started it as something to cover me for a couple of months whilst I sorted something else out!). But at the end of the day I've earnt pittance. I dont expect to become rich making a living out of my hobby, but next year is the real test. I desperately need to get my finances into shape to get a place of my own & leave my wonderful studio here in my parents house behind. It may take longer than the one year to save enough for a decent deposit on my own place, but by this timenext year I certainly want to be a good way towards it!
Its a rather serious resolution & may not sound much to do with Minis, but bear in mind if my Finances are going to shape up, for me that means painting a Hell of a lot of models!
Oh, and of course to complete at least a small game-worthy force of my Space Puppies

Hi all, a detail for the 3000pt army resolution: It's Eldar, as I said, based on the B-T list, but with my own Mingel Craftworld colours. I won't manage the 3000pts, so I'm cheating a little by having around 800 of these ready - no chance I could make it otherwise...because I have to add: 1 Avatar + court 3 Wraithguard stands 6 Wraithlords 8 Aspect Warrior stands (including an Exarch) 4 Wave Serpents 1 Farseer and 4 Guardian stands, with 3 Heavy Weapon platforms 1 Scorpion (a conversion) 6 War Walkers 1 Warlock Titan
to be added to my completed stuff: 1 Avenger 1 Great Serpent 6 FirePrism-equivalents 1 Warlock + 7 Guardian stands
Total - 3125 points You'll note I lack AA, aircraft, and Falcons - I've only got a single Falcon and some old Nightwings I'm converting into other stuff. The AA would be added once the new Firestorm comes out (or when I get tired of waiting and convert one); the aircraft are a work-in-progress purchase. The Falcons - well, my plastic ones are being converted, my single metal one has no turret and is insufficient, and I have no $ to buy more. So I'll just do without.

I avoid New Year Resolutions as they seem to almost never get done. I will sometimes write down things I would like to try, but I avoid the "resolution" part as it seems to always spell doom for my goals.

I've been pondering what sorts of New Year's Resolutions I want to make for the upcoming year (2005).
These are not my final concrete resolutions, but:
- I want to run a Giant Monster-type Godzilla game next year at CONQUEST 2005 so polishing off some terrain and getting some monsters based is a plan.
- I want to make sure I have at least 1,500 points of based E-A Crimson Fists for next year, 2005.
- I'd like to build and base at least 1'x1' of urban terrain. ?
- I'd like to put the finishing touches on my Mars Forgeworld and Agri-world terrain boards.
- It would be nice to do some 6mm ancients wargaming.
- I'd like to work some more on my burgeoning Tyranid army including scratch-building some Synapse Nodes.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
