An interesting conundrum ... religion is usually a touchy subject ... ???

He knows it was good. & Knows it was good enough for a demon at least, thus he was really not happy on the day when I talked to him - I wondered why he avoided the question "was it worth the trip this year"..... I feel rather guilty for thinking he seemed a bit arrogant on the day - I would be rather p'd off if I'd spent a couple of hundred hours on a piece AND travelled across the Atlantic to have it turned aside for the reasons given!

I asked inthe assumption he'd won something, if not the sword!

Hi,

It seems it has been removed. It was there earlier, showing the model and the aforementioned artowrk on the banner. Sorry.

I do not understand French, but my heart skipped a beat when I realized someone dropped their entry. The photo of it on the ground just caught me off guard.  :{

To have spend a lot of time and effort and then drop in in the parking lot at the event must have been a real crapper.

If anyone does have a picture, I would like to see what was so bad GW would not put it up. I mean they have some very offensive artwork in their books and games.  ???

I sense some hypocrisy in action here.  :blues:

Hi,

No Jimbo it isn't. It's not on any GW coverage, and I havn't found it elsewhere yet. It's a large winged Chaos dude (someone tell me the proper term, I'm not good with Chaos), with detailing across the wings and base, with a banner above it's head. The banner has two clearly religious images on it (not messed up or obscure) and is quite unique. You'll know when you see it.

Cheers,
Freshmetal

In answer to your questions regarding Victor Hardy's entry & his disqualification, these are quotes from a message from the man himself, posted to one of the painting groups:

"...I spent two years and between 500-600 hours on this piece--
working on nothing else. There are well-over one hundred and thirty
freehand faces, bodies and other images throughout the model. Every
inch of the surface of this very large model is covered in free
hand...."

"...I put so much effort
into this mini and I still want to re-enter it into a future contest
(possibly modifying the piece slightly to meet the specific
objections that were told to me about the imagery). It would mean
allot to me if you would refrain from posting any pictures of my mini
and for those who have it on their sites to please remove them. I
want to limit the exposure of the mini. The first look at a
miniature is always the best look and you do not get second chance at
a first impression...."

Since he is SO highly respected in the painting world, 99% of websites have complied to his request (including GW themselves, who took their image down within 20 minutes apparently!).

Thus, it is highly unlikely that you will see any images online until he posts his own pictures after alterations & whichever comp he re-enters it into.

I stand by my claim that this is singularly the finest miniature painted & does take it to another level, I only hope he doesnt take anything away from the feel of the piece with the alterations he is making.

I think it stands testiment to the sportsmanship shown at this years event that he was apparently offered Demons from other winners who felt he should have won the event.

What the hell was I doing walking out with any level of trophy???
