Hi all,
after the WHFB/40K tournament messes I can get back to good old Epic stuff. And I'm pleased to say that I've maneged to unearth (after several months digging) my good old space marine sprues, from Space Marine and Epic 40K eras. With the odd Land Raider and stuff. Now I'm feeling a bit jaded with the old Legio Fausta, so my 3rd army (the one which includes anything from an inquisition Capitolis Imperialis to ancient blocky Vindicators) SMs will not be LF troops. I've decided to go for something a bit more colourful (sorry L4), although I might tone down the vehicles at least. Now at the tournament a 40K army of ancient Beakees with those pustulated shoulder pads caught my eye, and as far as I know it's been mentioned in GW blurb. Can't think where, though.
So: has anyone heard of the ? ? Medusa ? chapter? The x s stand for something like Sons of (Medusa). Any ideas, anyone?
Oh yeah - the armour colour is green, a bit close to (dare I say) lime....   :{

'The sons of Medusa' does ring a bell somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory, from long, long ago, will have to see if there is anything written, mind you.

The "Sons of Medusa" took part in the Badab War.

-ORIGINAL color scheme from Rogue Trader days: Green with the head of Medusa on the right shoulderpad. There also was a desert camo variant: dark yellow with vertical "tiger" stripes outlined in bright yellow.

IIRC there is a "new and worsened" color scheme in the SM collector's guide, which is at home. More info tomorrow.

I believe they have a limey green scheme mainly, with a white head and trim.....
*from memory, so that could all be wrong*

Thanks guys. Hmmm - I'm not a fan of tiger stripes on power armour (especially in Epic Scale!) myself...so how do you paint a Medusa head on a shoulder pad in Epic proportions...?
I think I'm going for them, though. Thanks and waiting for more!

Yep, that's the way I remember it too, in the old fluff. ?:) ?But I think it was more of a "pea green" (like the vegetable). ?IIRC, the Mentor Legion SMs were green with white trim ... ????  Pea Green could be a tactical color, "V" ... :;):

IMO the Russian green is too dark. If you want to go by the current painting standard their insignia has changed to a skull surrounded by some kind of stylished halo. Wish I had a scanner; I could scan a pic of both the old and the new colors.

Here is old and new pics of the really old Rogue Trader pics of sons of medus and some newer colour schemes:
Sons of medusa old & new pics

Here is some guys WH40K marines from the sons of medusa chapters, dont know about the colours though, they seem a tad wierd to me.

Lastly, a poorly scanned picture of a vintage space marine mini, painted in the sons of medusa colour scheme

Great Stuff Krax !  I know I have a color drawing in one of my very old W/D, the same one shown in the second link. Looks more like a tactical green than lime to me ! :;):  But hey, if lime green works for you ... go for it ! :laugh:
