What color do you use to paint the fists?

As a declared NON Crimson Fists guy my advice may seem a bit misplaced...
Anyway: I'd go for a black undercoat, heavy drybrush of regal blue and to get that slightly pale blue highlight try usinng light grey in stead of white for the highlights. Haven't tried it myself but it just might work.
Cheers!

Seconding WMN, I'd use a space-wolfish (wolvish?) grey for the lights (or drybrushing) - or maybe duck-egg blue; and don't forget the red fist, with a white coat between the black undercoat and the red. And I, too am a Non-Crimson Fists guy! Go NCF!

For the actual fists (note guys, the fists! ) the only way that I have found is to use a couple of coats of Blood Red over a black base. It is a slow process, and fiddly, but it gets there in the end.

Thanks everybody. I actually _did_ mean the whole marine, not just the fists but as usual expressed my meaning with a bit too vague terms. That's what you get when trying to "speak" foreign language.
Now if the REAL Crimson Fists guys would speak up, please...

Hi,
I've used regal blue over a black undercoat, heavy drybrush of enchanted blue and then a thin blue ink wash. Gives a really vivid dark blue colour. Havn't put a further drybrush on any yet, but may do. For the crimson, I use a scorched brown basecoat followed by two layers of Red Gore. Probably put a light Blood Red drybrush on too, but havn't done that yet either.

Thanks again! Just asked because I am once again toying with impossible (i.e. Tuffskull level) ideas in my head.

So Mojarn - are you aspiring to become the Crimson Fists Guy? Oh, by the way, who's the Imperial Fists Guy? Tuffskull, you've got one of the yellow armies, havn't you?

I used midnight blue with ink and standard GW red for the fists as well as boltgun metal for the "hardware."

I have painted an army of Imperial fists, but in unfortunately usual style, I dont own it - it was a commission.
I've also painted a single Crimson Fists Rhino as part of my "Rhino per Chapter" project.
It will be written up some day for my site & incoming, but in the mean time here's a quick "How to":
Base coated in regal blue, I did a second coat using a regal & enchanted mix at 1:1, leaving regal blue in the shadows.
Fist highlight was then added using Enchanted blue & the leading edges were picked out with a 1:1 mix of Enchanted:Ice Blues.
An Assault icon (front right) & two fists (front left & top hatch) were then painted on using Dark flesh & highlighted with Reds as appropriate.
See attached photo for the final product.
As a side note, Ultramarines can be painted to the exact same level using the same system, but using one shade lighter each time & final highlights in pure ice blue - they look funky

Hi,
I used to be the Imperial Fists guy, but gave that up after the yellow nightmares got too much. Someone else can gladly take the title.
Nice Rhino BTW Tuff, as always. I havn't even attempted to put insignia or markings on any of mine yet, but I'm not looking forward to it.
Cheers, Freshmetal
