I have used Felt for Rivers. Works well.
I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out once you are finished.

Hi Dafrca and Gang,
I thought about buying some brown or grey felt for roads, but my girlfriend, Diana, nixxed the idea.
I'll use sandpaper if I don't have time and maybe something nicer if I have the time.
I bought a set of FW roads.
I am also experimenting with duplicating the FW roads using plasticard. They're pretty simple casts. I have already made pieces that look nearly identical to the FW ones except the cool sidewalks (I think that they used Z-scale train pavement).
I'm also tried using a mix of egg carton and plasticard to build roads. Foam egg carton has that perfect road texture and is... the right price!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I've got a broken drive belt from work, about 1 1/2 inchs wide and about 8 feet long. I'm going to use it for roads. I just havent figured out how to do curves with it.

For those insterested in roads and rivers check this out. I got some of their stuff, just dirt roads, if you would like me to take pcitures. Dumb question I know.

They make rubber terrian that come prepainted. Not bad at all and very wargamer proof.
Take Care

I like Miniatureworldmaker.com but I can't afford it. My budget is limited right now.
I'll get photos when I can of the foam egg-carton / plasticard combo roads. They look good.
However, I have to go buy a small plastic rod to cut up into dots for the road like the FW stuff.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I did end up getting some work done yesterday:
Terrain: - x5 tree dioramas on 2" bases (a few trees, a big rock or two and some gradation) - x50 single-based trees (a tree on a washer)... - Prepped 250 plus washers for tree-basing (covered hole and primed to accept paint)... - Cast the Woodland Scenics rock molds twice...
Modelling tools: - x4 magnetic testing wands (for testing polarity)(useful for making sure that polarity is constant when mounting aircraft & skimmers separate of flying stands with magnets)...
Fun: - Met Chern at gaming shop and playes Settler of Cataan with Cities and Knights expansion - cleaned his clock... - Watched one of those WFB Dwarf axe-thrower things go in a WFB game... very cool... like a big lawn-mower of troops...
CONQUEST planning: - Discussed Agriworld terrain set (I'm using it for CONQUEST)... - Discussed Mars Forgeworld terrain set... - Chern and I decided to have 1,000 point sides... - Prepared 8 plus various 1,000 point army lists for CONQUEST (SM, Eldar, Nid, IG, etc.)...
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
P.S. I fear that today will be less productive... I plan to cut hills, cut felt woods & river templates, and base-coat trees & hills... I need to keep up the tempo...

Hi Everone,
I have made a ton of woods / trees / forest for microscale minis and they look great. I can't wait to share them with everyone (Yes, I will take photos!).
I have based trees on washers (5/8" and 3/4") as well as some minis diorama tree setting on 2" washers (they have rocks, talus, several trees and some gradation).
I've been really productive the last week or two churning out 6mm Space Marines, terrain and even objectives for my CONQUEST game.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
