A few weeks ago a friend and I were talking and when I said I had some terrain based on CDs he said he did not like the idea. So I am curious:
Who uses CDs and who does not?

I do sometimes, mostly for buildings and fortifications. They are sturdy, take flocking well and I have A LOT of them laying about.

Personally I think that their shape is a little 'regular' - I like my terrain to have nice flowing curves on their bases...

Never thought of using CDs, that is a good idea!
I use DVD cases, cut flat. Nice size for epic buildings, rubble etc.

I understand. In fact that is the reason given by most of the people I know who do not like the idea. The "circle" is too perfect.
For me, it is not more odd then the troops standing on the moving stage (base) or the flat cardboard buildings (we use the old fold ups). But I could see where it could take away from the fun for someone if they have a real great board with matching terrain and then I place a perfictly round item on there.

Hi!
I think the CD as a base is appropriate for some terrain types, perhaps a hill or copse of woods, but for many other it may be to symetrical.
Its all a matter of taste.....
