Well, I'm new here, and I've been, for quite a while, wanting to play a game in Epic scale. Since I don't have any personal knowledge of any of the rules of the various editions around, I'd be interested in buying any ruleset.
I know, I could wait for E:A but I'm impatient and don't much want to wait for all metal minis.
I'd like to buy something to get me started, and have two or three (or more!) workable armies - if anyone has something fitting that vague description, I'd be glad to hear it. From what I've heard, the Space Marine boxed game had 3 forces in it, so that one sounds interesting.
Thanks all.

Well right now you might be able to find a copy of the Epic 40K game which is the 3rd version of the Epic game. I saw an SM2 game on E-bay. You might want to check it out there. E-A will probably only be a rule book and you'll have to buy your armies separately.

Hmm... thanks for the heads up. I took a look, but it was all just the books or just minis... I think I'll keep searching. It's just I'd like to get started in one go and then do the thinking.
EDIT: Well, I just found they opened up the Armageddon Vault, so I'm covered for rules, for now I suppose. And myself being a total newbie, maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but what would you all recommend getting (and be in the mood to sell) for a good starting force of Eldar using the current list, as well as some other army? From the little bit I've been reading, it seems as if the old Eldar Warhost and Legion sprues are worthwhile, at least for the Eldar.
Thanks for any help.

I'll probably be selling one of my SM armies soon. I put it together specifically for playtesting Epic Armageddon. Its all painted & based to a decent standard. If you're interested, let me know and I'll give you a heads up if/when it hits ebay.
Havent been able to do any playtesting lately, but it was either 3000 or 4000points.
1 tactical company (3 tact. squads, transport + 1 w/ commander), 1 bike company (2 units of 5 bike stands, 1 unit of 5 attack bikes), Assault company (3 Assault squads + 1 w/ commander), 2 whirlwind squadrons (6 models) 2 Lnd raider Squadrons (8 models), Devastator detachment + transport, Terminator detachment. All painted in a blue scheme ( I refuse to admit I've painted Ultramarines.... ).
It made a pretty interesting & flexible force, especially if you add three thunderhawks for the Assault comapny to ride in. (my thunderhawks will not be for sale!)
As Isay, if you'd be interested, let me know and I'll drop you an email if/when I put it on ebay.
