Yes... what I call the 'dodgy four' are the four games that GW released which were supposed to be targetted at a younger group, all released at the same time. They were UltraMarine, Space Fleet, some AHQ clone and possibly Tyranid Attack. They were united by the 'cunning box lid combat tray', which is a GW innovation which truely has to be seen to be believed! (And not in a good way!)
The only one that I really liked was Space Fleet, but even then the box lid combat tray really held it back!

I have not played Tyranid Attack, but I seriously doubt that it is anything like ASC. If I remember, Tyranid Attack was one of the 'dodgy four' comrising UltraMarine, Space Fleet, et al. Drag out ASC and give it a fair go, but if you play Tyranid Attack, dont assume that it is like ASC. |
No, Tyranid Attack was not one of the 'dodgy four.' Looking at my Space Fleet box, they were; Space Fleet, Ultramarines (used the old plastic scout and sergeant minis with the floor sections from Space Hulk Ed1), Mighty Warriors (used the card floors and plastic minis from Adv HeroQuest) and Kerrunch (Blood Bowl style thing)... These games all came out in the smaller square boxes I believe (same size as the Digganob box)... unlike Adv SC and Tyranid Attack.
Here is a copy on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....me=WDVW -as you can see it uses much of the card from Adv SC.
Tyranid Attack came out around WD 250 iirc- I'll look it up later... but yeah, it could be nothing like Adv SC. [/GW historian mode]

Hi!
The "dodgy' four..interesting imagery.
Stormseer is right those four games were made as very basic versions of the more advanced games that appeared in WD or as proper games.

Yes, I remember, those "games" ... and Space Fleet was a bit interesting. We even bought all the ships ! Sold most of them but some of the 'Nids. Some make good Harridans, Bio-tanks (glue the drones on some of the smaller ships), and Mysetic Spores, for Epic, of course !

As soon as I posted that, I started to wonder if Tyranid Attack was actually a member of the dodgy four... Sorry, my mistake.
Space Fleet was quite a good game (and I am always looking for the minis for it). UltraMarine had corridor sections, but they are thin-stock card, not the nice Space Hulk thick card.
