Hello everyone! This is a list to play a Mechanicum Taghmata army that I put together with the help of other community members on the Tactical Command Discord server. It is made with existing Legions Imperialis model kits in mind, although particular units like Castellax and Vorax are -- as of now -- assumed to be one model per base. Ideas were taken from the AU30k Mechanicum and Knight Household lists as well as the Skitarii Legion list in the Tournament Pack.

This list has not yet been playtested, which is why it is currently an Experimental list. The goal is to eventually get it to an Approved status. Of course, feedback, advice, and contributions are very much appreciated. I just want to help bring more model collections and fun to the table by posting and developing this army. Thank you for your interest and to all those who helped out in the Discord. :)

Hello again! Just thought I'd post a new version of 0.0.4 as a small update to see what people think about it. Here are the changes I made:

- Fixed some typos and reworded a few things
- The Cortex Controller now works both from inside and outside vehicles
- Removed the Marauder Bomber because it is unclear whether the Mechanicum utilized them in the lore, and the list already has several template weapons anyway
- Replaced the Heavy Bolters on the Sagitarii and Ulator with Volkite Culverins that face to the left, right, and back
- Buffed the missile weapon on the Aktaeus to 4 shots

Hello! Here's a quick update before the weekend to make some fixes and more significant changes than the previous version of 0.0.4. Let me know what you guys think and how this plays if anyone does any playtesting.

v0.0.4b
- Fixed some typos
- Added Tunneler to the Ordinatus Aktaeus as it should have been there before
- Reduced the cost of the Triaros Armoured Conveyor to 50 points
- Nerfed the Acastus Knight-Asterius; its Volkite Culverins are now FwA
- Reduced the base costs of the Adsecularis Tech-Thrall Covenant and Thallax Cohort to 175 points
- Increased the range of the Plasma Mortar on the Thanatar-Cavas to 45cm
- Removed D from several unit weapon profiles: Shock Ram (replaced with EA+1), all Volkite weapons, Karacnos Mortar Battery
- Gave the Karacnos Mortar Battery BP2 and reduced the Karacnos Assault Tank Squadron to 2 units and 225 points
- Changed the Krios Squadron to 3 units and 175 points

The last two point reductions were made to make the Karacnos and Krios easier to fit into lists and make it possible to create more formations from one plastic kit. I was also advised to remove D from several weapons. Attached to this post is the list to check out the changes for yourself. Like last time, I also wrote up a list -- but for a 1000-point game of Minigeddon!

I've talked a bit with you on the discord at an earlier stage of this. I'm grabbing a Mech LI box in a bit, so I'm getting interested in the list again. Some thoughts:

- Generally it looks ready for playtesting, thanks for filling out all the unit profiles. Great work, good document.

- The Magos Dominus upgrade doesn't get you a ton. 50 points for Commander, Invuln, and Cortex doesn't seem worth it. I think giving them a bonus weapon (either small arms EA or a MW EA assault weapon) and Leader would give more reason.

- Consider making an Archmagos Prime buff a unit's Inititative to 1+

- Cutting back on Weapon Traits

I think I mentioned this on Discord, but I don't think any other list has small arms or assault weapons with Disrupt, so most of those should go. Generally speaking you should probably tone back the number of weapon traits out there and take away a lot of Disrupts from weapons like the Volkite Veuglaire, Graviton Gun, Graviton Hammers, Shock Ram, Irradiation Blaster's Small Arms profile, Karacnos Mortar Battery, Volkite Culverin. Some or all of those.

- Dire Wolf Infiltrator?

Infiltrator doubles a unit's charge speed, so this could charge 60cm, ignoring the target's ZoCs. That is definitely not what it should be doing.


- Independent Thanatar/Domitar/Arlatax/Vulturax Maniples

These are listed as an upgrade, but the double star (**) says "These Taghmata Upgrades are separate Formations".

I'm a bit confused at this, most lists don't do it this way. One concern is that I could add a ton of cheapo 50 point activations with Vulturax, another is that 3 maximum models is a very small unit cap size for all of these. 3 is a bit of a cursed unit size because if you get shot at (1 blast marker) and lose a casualty (1 blast marker) the unit automatically breaks, making them very fragile.

I think you should keep these upgrades as-is (perhaps cheaper, say for Domitars) and then create independent units sized at 4ish.

Hello everyone! I apologize that it has been a long while since the last list update due to obligations IRL. This list has been moved up to v0.0.5, as though most of the changes are straightforward, the list should feel different enough in play to warrant a new number. Some of the changes were suggested by Queen of Bithynia or influenced by this input. Let me know how the rules look and how they play on the table. I hope people have a lot of fun with this army. Thank you for your interest! :D

v0.0.5:
- Minor table rearrangements and rewording of rules were made.
- The Ordinatus Aktaeus formation is made 0-1 to represent its rarity in the lore. In addition, it can now transport the Castellax, Vorax, Arlatax, Domitar, and both forms of Thanatar.
- All mentions of "1-3" in references to unit count of formations under Taghmata Upgrades were made into "2-4".
- The Vultarax Stratos-Automata, the Arlatax Battle-Automata, and the Domitar Battle-Automata were reduced to 50 points per unit.
- The Archmagos Prime on Abeyant unit type is changed to Character. Its Speed value was changed to "n/a". In addition, units with this upgrade have an Armour value of at least 3+ and have their unit type changed to Armoured Vehicle.
- As per suggestion, the Magos Dominus was given Power Weapons and the Leader special rule.
- The Dire Wolf Class Titan lost its Infiltrator special rule.
- The Volkite Veuglaire is now AP3+. The AP value of the Volkite Culverin is strengthened to AP4+.
- As per suggestion, both the Archmagos Prime and the Archmagos Prime on Abeyant now grant Initiative 1+ to formations it is attached to. In addition, both have CC and FF values of at least 3+ and 4+ respectively.
- Blank entries under Upgrades in the tables were clarified to be "None".
- Thallax Cohorts are now clarified to have access to all Taghmata Upgrades.
- "Power Blade Arrays" on Vorax Battle-Automata were changed to "Vorax Power Blade Arrays". In addition, their FF value was improved to 4+.
- "Reinforced Armour" was removed from the Archmagos Prime to create a better incentive for the Archmagos Prime on Abeyant.
- A new special rule, Battlesmith, was given to the Tech Priest Auxilia, the Magos Dominus, the Archmagos Prime, and the Archmagos Prime on Abeyant. The cost of the Tech Priest Auxilia unit was thus increased to +50 points each. The costs of both the Castellax Battle-Automata Maniple formation and the Myrmidon Sect formation thus increased to 275 points. The cost of the Adsecularis Tech-Thrall Covenant formation was kept as-is to give it an additional niche as a cheaper way to get Tech Priest Auxilia units.
- The Knight Moirax CC value with the Siege Claw was improved to 4+.
- NOTE: The Disrupt special rule has already been removed from all Vokite weapons, the Shock Ram, and the Karacnos Mortar Battery. Only the Graviton Gun, Graviton Hammers, Irradiation Blaster, Arc Blaster, Ulator Sonic Destroyer, and Barrage Missile should have Disrupt now. Let me know if this is not the case.

Hello again, everyone! While working on my XVth Legion Astartes - Prosperine Congregation Army List, I thought about some smaller changes to make the list "make more sense." For example, the transport rules were overhauled and some weapons were given additional profiles for occasions in which they should be usable. The biggest change, however, is the removal of both Emperor Titans to make way for the Warbringer Nemesis Titan and both Warmaster Titans. Hopefully, this will help set the list further apart from others, make it a unique threat in larger games, and better represent the Mechanicum as a faction. Remember that this army list is still experimental, so the weapon profiles and point costs of the new Titans are not final. These new units should be fun, not frustrating, so please let me know what you guys are thinking about them and how they play on the table. Thank you all again for your interest! :)

v0.0.5a:
- Both Ursarax and Vorax Battle-Automata received EA(+1) for their assault weapons.
- Some rules were rephrased.
- Wording for unit transport rules was overhauled to make it more intuitive and simple.
- The Ordinatus Aktaeus can now transport up to two individual formations.
- The Castellax Battle-Automata Maniple had its cost reduced to 250 points.
- The Warbringer Nemesis Class Titan was added.
- Both the Imperator Class Titan and Warmonger Class Titan were removed. In their place, the Warmaster Class Titan and Warmaster Iconoclast Class Titan were added.
- The Terrebrax Rocket Battery of the Ordinatus Aktaeus now has 4 Small Arms attacks.
- The Krios Irradiator gained an additional attack.
- The Skimmer special rule on the Archmagos Prime on Abeyant was replaced with Walker.
- Both Thanatar units had "Siege-Automata" appended to their names.
- The Lightning Lock of the Knight Moirax unit was given a Small Arms profile.

Hello everyone! I have another update for the Mechanicum Taghmata army list. It was originally meant to be a "house cleaning" update with a few tweaks, but it soon expanded to have several notable changes when it became apparent that a lot needed to be readjusted. Some terminology was changed and a weapon or two was slightly changed, but multiple units had their weapon profiles changed or gained access to new weapons. Vorax are now more easily able to board transport units, helping them fill their niche in the list more effectively. Further details about the changes are in the change log below. Let me know what you guys think about them and how the army plays on the table. Thank you all again for your interest! ;D

v0.0.5b:
- Some rules were reworded and some typos were fixed.
- The Krios Squadron formation was increased in size to 4 units and in cost to 225 points.
- The Vultarax Stratos-Automata unit's Havoc Launcher was corrected to AP5+/AT6+.
- The Battlesmith special rule was reworded to account for transported units with this special rule.
- Both Warmaster Titan units can now equip Apocalypse Missile Launchers on their Arm Weapon Mounts.
- The Desolator Chainsword on the Warmaster Iconoclast Class Titan unit had its profile changed to "Assault Weapons, EA(+2), TK(D3+2)". This unit also had its base CC decreased to 4+, only going to 3+ when attacking with the Kirus Grave Imploder or Kirus Siege Drill. The point cost of the unit was accordingly decreased to 975 points.
- The Cerastus Knight-Atropos unit was renamed to a Cerastus Knight-Atrapos.
- The base contact profile of the Atrapos Phasecutter of the Cerastus Knight-Atrapos unit now has TK(D2) instead of TK.
- The Dire Wolf Class Titan unit's Ardex Mega Bolters was changed to "2x Ardex Mega Bolter" with the same total number of shots.
- The Knight-Moirax Talon was renamed to an Armiger Knight Talon. The Knight-Moirax unit was renamed to an Armiger Knight-Moirax, and its Siege Claw was renamed to a Moirax Siege Claw.
- The Moirax Siege Claw now gives a FF value off 4+ to the Knight-Moirax unit, and has an additional assault shooting profile of Small Arms, IC. Accordingly, the Armiger Knight Talon was increased in cost to 175.
- The Siege Claw of both the Questoris Knight-Magaera and Questoris Knight-Styrix gained Lance against non-War Engine units, and was renamed to a Hekaton Siege Claw. The Irad-cleanser of both units gained an assault shooting profile of Small Arms, IC. In addition, both units received a Graviton Gun. Accordingly, the price of the Questoris Knight Banner was increased to 250 points.
- The Archmagos Prime and Archmagos Prime on Abeyant characters were renamed to "Archmagos" and "Archmagos on Abeyant" respectively. The Magos Dominus character was renamed to "Magos". The Magos upgrade was renamed to "Commander". The Tech Priest Auxilia upgrade was renamed to "Tech-Priests", while the Tech Priest Auxilia unit was renamed to "Tech-Priest Auxilia".
- The Vorax Battle-Automata Maniple was given the Commander, Tech-Priests, and Transport Taghmata Upgrades.
- An Additonal Notes section was added for clarifications and miscellaneous rules.
