Ok, yous guys. I need to pick your brains. Since Tas has volunteered to construct a chpter list and I volunteered to hand over some garffix, I need to know what information there is. I need chapter names, history colors and the like. I also need information regarding rank, insignia, honors, laurals ect... Also, let me know what you would like to see. I will attempt to put as much of the info I get from you to use. Post what you know, send me files anything. Just don't post some link and say "here". Thanks guy's.

Here is a sample of what I am currently chewing on. Give me some feedback to let me know if I am going in the right direction.

Tas and I thought it would be cool to have a marine chapter list of our own. With information, maybe printable banners and such. I volunteered to work on graffix if someone would put it all together. Tas volunteered for that job. I don't know which of the three sites will host it once it is done. But, it'll wind up somewhere. Anyway, I need some info. I found my old 40k book and downloaded some codexes so so I at least have that. Anyway, give me some ideas guys. Don't be lazy.  :p

Also, I am not enforcing any ownership rules for my work, at this time. If any of you want to steal my images and use them somewhere then, by all means, have at it. Just give me props and I am a happy man.

A bit on colour schems for Ultramarines that might be of use to you: (from WD 154)

Ultramarines company colours:

1 Veterans/Termies: White

2 Battle Company: Yellow

3 Battle Company: Red

4 Battle Company: Green

5 Battle Company: Black

6 Tactical Company: Orange

7 Tactical Company: Purple

8 Assault Company: Grey

9 Devastator Company: Blue

10 Scouts: None (Dont ask me why :))

Ultras also use a sort of red "halo"-symbol around the ultramarines "U".

The space wolves had a quite different symbol in the original 40K rouge trader and 1ed SM. It was yellow with red outline, and was shaped rather differntly, more stylized. (Im sure you know it) Wolves were painted a lighter grey too.

And another thing while Im at it: In the Rouge Trader book theres a scheme on painting marines that has shoulderpad symbols for each weapon; the flamer has one symbol, the bolter another etc. Cant post a pic cause I dont know where to get it...

Maybe something I posted helps you out in some way, I doubt it though... :-)

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm afraid I do not have many of the books. Anyway, I was thumbing through my old 40k book and came accross some symbols like the ones you mentioned. For the old beakies.

Great stuff guys !!!  Good research too, I remember those Marines symbols, from the old days.  I have some of them painted on the few 40K models I have ... :;):

There was a whole heap of colour descriptions for the "main" Chapters in Armies of the Imperium.  Have you got access to that?  It would be a very useful reference

Yeah, I have been thumbing through it. Unfortunatly I am probably not going to be able to meet up with Max this week. So, the info hes has will have to wait a while.  :(  I found some PDFs of some of the books online. I do not know if they are complete, though. Anyway, I will keep working.
