Perhaps a discussion of the merits and demerits of the AoS system could be started up in a new thread? I'm always interested to hear learned options

I think that it missed a few points in game design that already existed in GW material (e.g. LotR:SBG precedents), but I think the important thing is that it's just a different model/game of Fantasy. Fortunately, there are groups that continue to work on the old WFB engine so that people can continue to use a refined ruleset of that ilk.
In terms of the aesthetic and story direction: whilst it would have been nice if the relatively unique old WFB style had continued (for all its, erm, outside influences

it was its own thing), AoS has a very distinctive style of its own, which looks quite interesting on its own merits (even if it's not one's favourite choices). Perhaps another thread could be started to discuss the art theory behind both styles if someone disagreed? I would find that interesting and informative!
