Hello

Just a little background on myself. I currently play lord of the rings. I was scanning through the games the other day and saw battle fleet gothic. I thought it looked pretty neat

So I was wondering
Does anybody play battle fleet gothic I mean would it be hard finding an oppenent?

Are the rules hard to learn?

How expensive will a fleet run about?

I have interest in the following fleets, imperial, space marines, and orks I would like to collect all 3 of those fleets in time so

Is buying the boxed set and supplement a good start, or should I just try to buy the rulebook and begin collecting the fleets?

Thanks

Hi Sirnoah, welcome to the boards- BFG is a great game; it reallydepends where you are with regard to how many players you will find locally- here in my area in the UK I know a few, but it is quite cheap and easy to play, so I'm sure you'll soon persuade a few friends if you havn't any existing players around...

The rules- very easy; in fact, the easiest of GWs games imho (although LOTR isn't too hard) ..I'm sure you'll have no probs there...  :)

Fleets are pretty cheap compared to 40k, WHFB, Epic etc... you can get a decent sized one for ?80 at the most...

Personally if I were you I wuld buy the box set- it is very good value just for the ships; you also get the rulebook, all the blast markers, attack craft counters, dice, etc etc you need, and currently you can't pick up the rulebook seperatly other than on 2nd hand, so I'd go for the box...
There will be a 'second edition' sometime this year/next year iirc, but I doubt this will contain much more than a few minor changes...

Hope that helps!
:D

Hi!

Stormseer has BFG had a "annual" of other book published that compiles the articles and rules that have come out for BFG over the years?

Yep, BFG: Armada has all the new official ships, the 2002 BFG Annual has a lot of the revisions, Warp Storm has all the original WD articles from around the release, and there are lots of PDFs you can download from the GW site too....  :)

BFG is a great game.

I would recommend you buy the boxed set if you can.  It provides a lot of useful tools and bobbins aswell as the rule book and ships. (things like asteroids, fighters, blast markers and planets.)

With the boxed set you get cruisers for both chaos and imperials.  Enough to have some decent games straight away.  And its best to first learn the rules of the game with these two fleets before collecting the other races.  Orks and marines (aswell as Eldar, Tau, Nids and D.Eldar) have specialrules uniqueto themselves.  Its wise to learn the core rules and be accomplished with these first.

The imperial and Chaos fleets are a reasonable cheap fleet to collect, as their basic cruisers are avaiable in a box of two plastic  ships.

You can really build up a large fleet easliy.  The escorts and other cruisers/battlecruisers/battleships are metal though.  So you will pay more for these.  But you will have saved on the cruisers in the first place.  Whereas Orks, marines etc are all made from metal.

On a personal note, I started out playing Eldar.  And it was good .....for a while.  The real fun started when I began using Orks.

:D  :D

Just like in 40K, they like it up close and personal.  At which point they deliver a massive blow.
