Must agree with Primarch here on all counts.

Yeah I'm right with P as well, especially when he laments that this thread is still going ;) Also he's 100% correct that strategic thinking has been absent from GWplc for a long time.

The only part I really think I agree with is the 8mm part. I don't think it's to make 6mm stuff "look funny", though I think that's a pleasant side effect for them I am sure, but more about a ridiculous need to differentiate themselves from games like Drop Zone, Planetfall, etc and what is now ruling the mass wargamming market they long ago vacated. Because if it's different scales then instantly they must only buy GW/FW terrain, right? (sadly after being a long standing part of some other small scale game system groups on FB it's very apparent that many players actually think that way - go figure)

Step 1, change scale
Step 2 ...
Step 3, PROFIT!

Don't get me wrong, I'm cynical, but also not delusional (though arguably GWplc is ;D ). I don't feel the need to ascribe their actions to active malice when simple incompetency better fits.

Hi!

The "look funny" was more a polite way to say what you state. ;)

I'm trying to cut down on my GW related snark. :)

I fully agree that GW seems to be hell bent on being different in things that make no sense (8mm instead of 6mm or 10mm) in anything other than a desperate need to be different for the sake of being different.

To be frank, I don't think anything short of licensing the epic IP (or another company taking over), will ever make the game anything close to what it used to be.

There is no next "golden age" for epic with GW at the helm.

It is what it is.

Yes also have to agree, good words from Primarch.

The golden age of 6mm in the era as when we enjoyed it , is now owned by the community, luckily with companies such as Vanguard and onslaught etc providing suitable proxies. ;)

I like the fact they have entertained bringing out AT again, but i feel it will not provide decent enough minatures, the titans im expecting to be extremely over the top and as they have said if the sales goe well on those as the stuff is designed on cad they can simply upscale it for 28mm now that just tells you something !

I can just see this been some really nice plastic scenery, a rule set thrown together and some seriously over the top titans from fordge world. I could well be wrong but i will not hold my breath. I know games take a while to design and make etc, but given they have only just round to blood bowl that still has not been released yet, i feel they sent the message of its all coming back just to get people talking about GW again and hope it somehow would help a return of the old slightly annoyed players of other games systems it has also deceased.

By the time this hits the shelfs i will be in my retirement home with only room for my dominos and cathata ;D

Hmm, but how could we expand the 6mm community?

Hi!

At this point that is a job every player in his own region will need to do on his own.

Pick a ruleset, (whether GW epic or something else, there are quite a few good ones), form a group and rely on the several nice 6mm vendors that have sprouted of late.

For the short and medium term there is no company to help us in this effort.

It's totally up to the individual.

Another update: http://battlebunnies.blogspot.nl/2016/1 ... titan.html
Quote:
Hi all. Here is some more info coming out of the European Weekender:

First book is based on the events of Titandeath which enabled Horus to reach Terra.

There will be more books (like with the Black book series).

They want to do Psi-Titans and Nemesis

Reaver is sculpted already Cerastus is next.

Loyal versions of the Subjugator will be done in New Epic scale first (as well as Knights).

The Subjugator is a "Light Titan"

Game is based around 5 Titans a side + Plus Knights

Teleporting Warprunners "they can" maybe Legio specific rules.

3 modes to play (like AoS).

First half of next year will wait and see. Intrested to see what the models will look though. Very happy with proxies form vanguards and such like. plus still have my old forumware titans so these models would have to be super special for me to purchase also not a big fan of resin. But never say never :)

At least they have put a timeline on it though ;)

Assholes.

Clarification - they're assholes for choosing 8mm instead of sticking with the legacy scale.

Todd that is the way granny works sadly as we all know, she just goes out of her way to piss people off. >:(

Everywhere i read posts most people are saying the relaunches are to protect IP. I cant understand it from a financial point of view given the relaunch cost involved. To protect their IP against other minatures.

What i can see them doing this for though is to protect the IP of the electronic stuff such as battlefleet gothic, blood bowl etc, as these are things that are making them money still maybe ::)

you only need a good console game the similar to blood bowl , battle fleet gothic and gw is totally up the creek.!

Knowing how GW operates I fully expected a change in scale.

Again, I don't know why people are pissed at the scale change. For 2 decades I've heard nothing about epic scale titans other than "their too small and not 'true scale'". Unless this game sells really well (which it probably won't) it's only going to include titans and so the change in scale should actually please most epic players.
