I went for a white trim on the air intakes.

It would match the white on your camo, highlight the engines but not be too visible.
I've come to the conclusion that my epic camo painting should look like camo (hint at camo),
but actually make the models reasonably visible. Camo - real life hiding. Epic - eye catching
models.

I really like your left camo pattern on the previous post.

Agree !

Yep, those are Kraytonian Guard models from their Command unit... the squared off rifles are perfect for Tau!

Thought so ! Good idea ! I've got a lot of DRM. Hopefully DRM will get back on track and get their website working.

Continuing on...

This is probably the first time I've just sat down and focused on getting things done... I'm almost at 3000 points! I had a bunch of stuff just sitting around primed and/or base-coated just collecting dust as it were and I'm finding it really satisfying to actually have things that are finished!

I enjoy the smell of varnish in the morning... it smells like... completion!

Here's the next batch, this is just "Red Cadre" as they and all their support units have red flashes on their shoulder pads as identifiers.

Red Group - 1050 points
Firewarrior Cadre
6 Fire Warriors
Bonded Team
3 Devilfish
1 Skyray
2 Hammerheads (Fusion)

Steathsuits Group
6 Steathsuits

Pathfinder Group
4 Pathfinders
2 Devilfish

Recon Skimmer Group
3 Piranha
3 Tetra

Things are currently drying and it's late at night here, so too dark to take decent pictures, but, I can now play Tau at 4000 points... fully painted!

Perhaps not the best mix of formations, but certainly playable; I'm going to aim for 5000 points... but do I take an easy path completing the Manta, or a harder path with more formations... decisions, decisions!

Not much done yesterday, but I still made progress!

A little more airpower and two objectives: Observation Post and Crashed Devilfish. I like to have three "army themed" objectives for each of my armies, but I'm still not sure what to do for my third Tau objective.

Also, I know the pictures aren't great, but what do people think of my "angular" camo on the aircraft? I'm trying to decide whether to do the Manta in the same style.

Tigershark AX-1-0 Squadron - 350 points
2 Barracudas

I really like that angular camo, and wow you're racing through this. Welcome back!

Thanks!

I think the angular pattern will work on the Manta, but it's going to be a lot of straight lines to deal with! *laugh*

And, yeah, I've been really focused and been able to put a lot of time into this; I've had the week off, with both kids out doing summer camp stuff, so I've had some, sweet, sweet daddy time! *LAUGH* I had various things that were just sitting in base coat, so that saves time too.

Whew... time for lunch!

Here's the initial camo lines on the Manta, lots of clean-up and detailing still to do, but I just might get this done tonight... which would be 5000 points in a week. WOOHOO!
