I've checked the whirlwind model. What GW basically did is place the missile pods even higher. Should perhaps design the missile turret then, which isn't such a bad idea. :)

So first of all, I've moved the turrets forward (2mm), it does make quite a different. Secondly, I've played the missile pods higher, the 'centre' of the turret does need some work though. Thirdly, I've decided to design some sponsons. Do note that they're very early WIPs.

Started working on some close combat scrap bots. Like their gun carrier brethren the plan is to have five of these. I'm already toying with some ideas for other robotic creatures. I kind of imagine them to be a mix between scrapyard robots, Necrons, Transformers and something from a Hellraiser movie.

Another thing I'd like to delve into is reviving my 'big tank' project (see machine in the background). Not sure if I still have the file for it...

Thanks to Moredakka's suggestion I've been tweaking the 'focus' of these tanks a bit.

Flamer, melta, multiple lasers and light battle cannon. Next up turret-wise would be an autocannon turret and one with a twin linked heavy calibre automatic guns.

Another thing that will need some work is altering the hull in such a way that such a heavy calibre automatic gun would fit in there...

One more question, should I keep the rivets or not?

Been tweaking the size (width and length) of the tanks a bit. The larger version is about 36mm x 21mm (the original one is 27mm x 16mm):

I'm digging the slightly elongated feel of it, it's almost a 6mm tribute to this

Let me know what you think!

Great minds think alike I guess? :spin

In the meantime, I've continued working on the standard hull. Really digging this version, will still need to integrate a hull mounted weapon. Still doubting how to do it.

Then there are the turrets, I feel that the new design makes short range weapons such as the melta cannon and flamer look a bit odd. I think what's the most likely scenario now is that I'll make a few 'longer' ranged turrets (auto cannon, twin linked heavy calibre machine guns). Other stuff like the missile launcher and gatling cannons could still work. One think I'm a bit doubting is what the missile launcher could 'count as', I'm tempted to have it 'count as' a Hydra but instead of autocannons it has anti-aircraft missiles.

As for the short range weapons (flamers, meltas, etc), I might do a hull variant in the future with the turret place on the front of the tank, but that's for later on...

I like this a lot.

How about a light remote operation turret at the front alongside the driver hatch for the hull weapon similar to a rhino.

I was thinking of something along those lines. It would allow me to make it a separate bit, allowing you to either mount a heavy calibre machine gun or a heavy flame thrower on it. :)

Rivets: Be careful with them. Too close to an edge makes it hard to get the edge due to the rivet catching the brush and too many of them are annoying to paint (see the e40k land raiders). It also seems that areas where rivets are have more issues with miscasts and becoming "muddy".

Really enjoying seeing all the tweaks.

Having painted some of Vanguards DiD Trojans I'm all in for the larger sized version.

@Vaaish: At the moment (see latest pic 3 posts back) I'm experimenting with 'inverted' rivets. I'm liking the look of them, but if it causes too much problems for casting and painting I might have to consider removing them altogether...

@Cranium27: I'm almost tempted to design the turret connector in such a way that it's compatible with the turrets from DiD. But are their turrets interchangeable between their vehicles? So could the turrets of the Novan Elite Support Tank be mounted on a Novan Churchillian Tank or Novan Citadel?
