I have had a pile of Imperial Guard stuff for ages and have wavered from one variation of force to another. I have always liked the idea of doing an 'Apocalypse' sized army that ties the bits I have together.

I have recently been re-visiting the FW Vraks books and have hit upon the idea of a DKoK Assault Korps similar to those formation mentioned in the first book that made up the Krieg Army that was sent to Vraks. This will allow me to do an infantry based force tied together with some tanks and other bits that I just fancy doing. It will also allow the building of some trenches and defences too.

My (Current) plan is that the Assault Korps will consist of the following formations :

87th Krieg Tank Regiment
93rd Krieg Tank Regiment
119th Krieg Siege Regiment
213th Krieg Siege Regiment

I'm planning for a winter basing scheme with smashed landscape with snow, ice and craters and as such, the bases will be perhaps slightly larger than some would normally use (40mm x 30mm for tanks and vehicles for example).

Good luck with the army, Base wise 40mm x 30 will look fine and allows you to get more scenery
on it.

Never tried basing anything myself with a winter/snow theme but some of them I have seen look
fantastic especially the guard stuff.

Also trying a solution myself at the moment called magic water , you can mix it with paint for rivers,
mud puddles etc but may also work well for ice ? may be worth a look to give it that winter look
on some of your bases mixed in with snow
