Rumor is that the email was sent to the wrong distribution list internally and once it was out in the wild GW basically decided to spin it as best they could. [salt]

Also the bit about this being under the FW subsidiary is three fold.
1. The release mentioning FW ;)
2. Hastings (rumor god himself) stating as much (I tend to listen to him since his record is 100%)
3. BaC box set was evidently designed as a POC via the FW guys for GW release (again, Hastings so...)

All these are so salt laden that one should watch their blood pressure. :)

We're year(s) away from likely anything so honestly it's business as usual. Now I need to get back salivating over my DFC pledges ;)

The only thing I can say is why make an announcement ( and get everyone excited) if they don't have anything to release in the next year? Everyone would soon forget about this new division and go on to another shiny product.

Because the announcement was apparently an accident. Which is why it ended up as a single store facebook post more than a day before any other announcement, and 2 days before anything went up on the GW website.

Mine too. For the same reasons.

If they wanted BFG to cannibalize DFC's sales they should have released it a couple weeks ago. If they don't actually come out with it until after the DFC kickstarter is in fullfillment, then that won't accomplish anything except maybe cannibalize BFG's sales.

Thinking about it. If they were interested in doing ongoing support for these games, can you imagine the what they could do with BB these days with their ability to do single character plastic mini-sprues? Do a $50 box with generic players for each team and then they could do a ton of (GW expensive) star players. Of course, being GW, each one would probably be more powerful than the last.

Still think a one off all star players box set for BB would fly off the shelves!

If the new division shares forgeworld's fondness of the rogue trader and adeptus titanicus era models, I can see them doing a titans-only box game. Miniature [plastic?] versions of the titans they currently make would be easy enough, given that they don't need to design anything actually new. The box set would probably come with some awesome scenery/terrain too.

As for the scale, if they limit themselves to titans, then they'll probably be bigger than the epic versions, but simply be 'true scale' to the current 6mm infantry and vehicles. That way they would still be useful to some subset of current epic fans. I can't see them doing 10mm or 15mm plastic or resin titans. Those would only be 1/3 and 1/2 of the scale of their 40k models, which would make them too big to fit more than 2 in a box set. I'd think you'd need at least 4 to make a reasonable one-off game.

It will probably be Horus Herasy related as well, which is a bummer to us xenos players.

I look forward to whatever they do for BFG.

I have mixed feelings about this announcement. I enjoy the EpicA system and hope the Epic-UK tournament scene carries on as is, but new models and interest from say a new version of AT could be good.

Have you all seen this? Is that a test print of a 6mm FW Warlord?

be nice to see this game back on the shelves and get a copy ! will be the first thing I have
purchased of GW for years product wise apart from paint !

That looks more like a 10 mm scale version. That is too large even for a true scale Warlord.

If 10mm ... then some of the vehicles might be a bit more in scale with Epic's 6mm scale creep.
So again , that being said, don't be too surprised in you want Ballerina Barbie but get Malibu Barbie. We're talking about GW after all ...

I believe that is a 6mm scale model based on this comparison of the 40k models. A 10mm scale model would be 8" tall, and that mini warlord doesn't look that tall to me.

I agree, scale wise it looks 6mm as the support weapons on the top always make the model
look a little taller, Looks a bit of a chunkey monkey though ? but I am not that familiar with the new
40k model designs :)

The way I see it: one-off Epic box set. Old grognards buy it to flesh out their existing Epic collections. Newbies and fly-by-night gamers buy it in a fit of curiosity and excitement. When they realise that GW isn't laying on the usual conveyor belt of things to pay for, they'll go back to the mindset they had when Epic rules and proxy minis were already available (i.e. now), call it a dead game, sell it, and be more convinced than ever that Epic is not viable.

Very cynical, I know. Maybe they will provide expansion box sets further down the road. But where GW and swathes of it's fanbase are concerned, cyncism is a pretty ingrained response.

Good evaluation sema ! But remember, Epic Titans are generally not 6mm-1/300 but more like 1/500, yes ? 8)
