UPDATE

We are working together with Dark Sphere to live stream and record several matches tomorrow with their great set-up. Needs some last checks tomorrow but should be up and running from round 2 onwards, which is scheduled to start 11:45am.

They done a quick tester with epic armies of cardboard, which can be found here: http://www.twitch.tv/darkspherestreamtest/v/23084882

I will update with the proper channel link asap tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there now that some rushed painting has been completed. See you all later.

The 3rd Battle of the Thames just started here in cloudy London!

We teamed up with Dark Sphere and created a fantastic video set-up and are LIVE streaming 4 games throughout the day.

Check it out here:

The first feature match shows Alun's Ulani tanks battling it out with Matthew's Ravenwing, painted red to go faster!

Big props to Mark, who managed a very tight win with some stunty Squats and well done to all other players as well!
Congratulations to Radek and his Iron Warriors for a well deserved best painted award.

Full image upload tomorrow. Till then, thanks to all again for coming and happy Halloween!

Big thanks to Flo, for his hard work to make this small but enjoyable event happen and to Dark Sphere staff who have been very helpful.
Well done to all the players for a great show sportsmanship.
Both Dark Eldar armies were painted to good standard, hence one got my vote.
PS
I now will be looking for 4k game(s) with my Tau force, after acquiring another Manta today ;D

Happy days!

Thanks Florian. Was really a great day (despite getting totally owned 3 out of 4 games). I'll have to get the 3k dark eldar painted!

Yes, give thanks to florian for great organisation and we'll done to Mark and Matt for such a tight top 2. Ps quality of the painting was fab, at least half a dozen armies could have won best painted.

Agreed; many thanks for organising things, to Dark Sphere for hosting the event (and for the web in my hair!) and to my four opponents for very spirited games.

I do like the new rule that allows the player to nominate a formation a his BTS. However I am less sure about removing the retain from everybody. This makes it much harder to mount assaults as the opponent has time to react and take counter-measures.

Loss of retain does stop the painfully untactical 'lets roll for the first activation and the win' that otherwise can happen though.

The loss of retain does stop certain types of assault based armies. The thing I found really brutal is artillery being able to strike with impunity as there is no chance of taking them out with aircraft. Baring a points increase I would consider indirect fire not doubling range?
