Great paint jobs and modeling ! I always though those SM2 Primarchs and G/Ds were too big ! But he/it looks good ... for a demonic manifestation !!!

Thanx guys!
The plague tower is incredible!!! Just how long do you spend highlighting anyway? |
You'd be surprised how quickly it was done. the entire tower was painted in the matter of an hour or so. The paint scheme is fairly simple: basecoat black, heavy drybrush of scortched brown adding camo green in a couple of mixes. Then a final light drybrush of camo green. The "face" was then painted camo green (with a bit of brown stilll stuck in the brush) and highlighted with rotting flesh (3 or 4 highlights i guess). Then it was a simple matter of painting the metal areas and washing them with watered down snakebite leather/black mix.
I've since added a banner to the back. I think it needs a few minor details (a bit of blacklining in some areas).
Cheers!

Great stuf, Warmaster - the tower is fantastic, but I liked the others too - the Emperor and Warmaster models are great.

Oh my! Allmost forgot about this thread (And it was bloody hard to find too! ).
It's been a while now but I've been working a bit on the three armies. This time I've done some work on the Krieg/Siegemasters.
First of all I've been producing some G?tterdammerung artillery pieces. They consist of a SM/TL era (mk2) Basilisk gun placed in a dugout. Stilll a bit of work to do but pics will follow shortly. The Artillery chassis will be turned into Br?enhilde transporters. I plan to add some sandbags and a couple of crew members which should work nicely.
Also I've been working on some FW Stormswords which wiill count as Shadowswords under GT rules. These are the horribly miscast models I got from FW a couple of months ago. I was asked to return them in order to recieve replacements which is fair enough. However they have not been replying to my e-mails inquireing if I will get any refund for the shipping back to the UK (which isn't cheap!!!). I'm still pretty ticked off about this but since they produce such darn nice models it's pretty hard to simply not trade with them anymore... As a result I've decided to keep the models but they have required quite a bit of work in order to look anywhere near decent. I originally tried to paint them up too see if a coat of paint would conceal the worst problems. This did not work though. I've then been converting like a madman with lotsa greenstuff and I think that the models wight be salvagable.
The worst affected model has had LOTS of camouflage netting added -particularly arround the sides where the miscasts are worst. The defects still show through though but I hope the paint job can conceal this. Another tnks had some serious problems at the front. Here I added some green stuff to look like Zimmerit (it think it's called) which was used by the Germans during WW2 to deflect magnetic charges. The last tank only had a few modifications since it was almost perfectly cast. Here I only added a tank commander. The result can be seen here:
Cheers!

..And here's the artillery pieces. Still a bit of work to do but you get the general idea.
Cheers!

Great ideas to deal with your casting problem Warmaster.. and interesting to hear FW wanted your tanks back- I think they need to improve their quality control if they are stopping doing free no questions asked replacements for miscasts....

Very Nice stuff W/M ! ?Good idea using camo nets and Zimmerit to fix F/W's muck ups. ?I'm always concerned about that. For what we pay for F/W, their Quality Control should be better. ?But as you mentioned before, some of the New E:A models (L/Russes and Basilisks come to mind. The New SM stuff was pretty good !) had a lot of flash on them too !? ?Required a lot of filing but was only a minor annoyance !

I think FW should replace their molds sooner. As it is, they probably just use them as long as the number customer complaints hits a certain line.
I wasn't exactly thrilled when I got my last batch of Manticores and Hydras... Lots of fine tuning ahead.
