Hey guys. In another forum we've been doing some work on the heresy lists and in that looked to change the way morale was handled for the legion astartes.
We went without ATSKNF but it didn't feel right. We went with normal ATSKNF but it allowed to very tough units given the increased formation size.
What we're looking at now is essentially ATSKNF without the protection against BMs when taking fire whilst broken, and no halving of the combat resolution hackdowns when losing an assault.
The theory being that 30k marines are as robust as 40k marines up until the point of breaking, and then they don't have that same degree of fearlessness or willpower to stay and fight on regardless of the odds.
The reason I post this here is I see this being quite representative of the CSM. They've seen it all before and war is a way of life for then. However when things go bad the every man for himself takes over, unless of course they're crazy or a fruit cake but you have fearless for that anyway.
As an example, you could call it veterans of the long war or something like that, and use it for those CSM units that don't get fearless but are still hardened fighters.
