It sounds like FW is going to make a Hero Cruiser and Explorer equivilant with their smoother design style. ?Atleast that's what I've heard.
On the off chance they don't would these make decent/pricey replacement models for the Specialist Games tau fleet?
Explorer = Epic Manta
Hero Cruiser = Epic Tigershark
I'm not sure of the exact size of the manta since I haven't seen it in person but it seems about the right size for a battleship. ?Also the Tigershark looks about "cruiser" size too.
The only problem is the engine vents make them look out of place, but the manta's burst cannons make for awesome looking turrets.
What do you think?

Personally I wouldn't use this idea- I have a thing about having large proportions of a model instantly recognisable as being from something else- it just 'feels wrong'...  ...I would probably use bits however to add to an existing model.. hmm... super mantas perhaps...

Most of the Epic line would make good substitutes for the Tau fleet. However, I find the Epic stuff a little... flat for the space craft. I believe that there was someone on the Gothic Yahoo Group who used the Epic vehicles as Tau vessels.

The Tigersharks are nice and cheaper alternatives to hero cruisers.
My major concern is the size of the manta, is it too big compared to other battleship models?
I don't mind the specialgame tau fleet, but their hero cruiser is about as long as the emperor model and that seems too big for my tastes.
So I was thinking of just using the FW line with Tigersharks as Heros (about the right size, right?) and the manta as and explorer battleship.

If you use the FW Barracuda, Tigershark, Manta and Orca, you might find it looks more cohesive, but I don't know how those compare sizewise.
