Haha - true. I personally don't in principle have a problem with them if the list is balanced (unlike some NetEA ones), especially as you don't have the Epic UK option for Squats.

Well given the squat list is a total glass canon I don't think you need to worry too much about any 'edge' we might gain. Especially, as probably the most competitive list is super boring to play so won't be taken. Obviously, happy to use something else if you think it could be a problem.

I've just had a quick first ever look at the Squat list. Some nice indirect fire options in there. Transports such as Gorgons (only 40 points!) doubling then supporting fire biker assaults etc looks aggressive. On quick look I have no idea if list is broken or not. What is the optimal build?

I think everyone is ok with the 16th May which is great. Mr Gonzo is deciding on the venue. Wherever he chooses we can have a curry/beer or something after if the players want to (which I predict will could involve SLW players drowning our sorrows rambling on about poor dice after our embarrassing defeat).

Having played with and against the Squats a few times I think they're a pretty balanced NEA list - they share quite a few units with the Siegemasters - and the 3 'most similar' lists (DGoK New list, BS, Squats) have advantages and disadvantages compared to each other. None are plain 'better' IMO

Like these lists Squats have excellent firepower but are weak in assaults. Not sure on a best build - still trying out different units in the games we've done so far ;)

16th and a post game beer sounds good. You think Richard will be drowning his sorrows?

Richard is the one person in our team who I'm confident should not be. Charles and I both have played a few tournies and I think many of our games could go either way. Chris and Barry don't have much experience at all, so they can't really lose in a way as not much can be expected of them with so little time to learn and practice. I think SLW can win but don't expect us to due to CLWC's strength in depth. But we are gonna give it one hell of a go!

Sounds like you might be looking at the old imbalanced squat list (with gorgons , mw Golaiths, etc) most recent list is here http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/ ... hp?t=26499

Playing against Squats is somewhat similar to playing against AMTL but with crappier Titans but better supports. Feels like a match-up based list a lot of times. For instance, the overlords are terrifying against armies w/ little shooting, but the fact they are always popped up make them easy meat for any army w/ decent AT/MW shots. Stubborn sounds like an advantage, but rarely is. The Goliaths are in my view sub-optimal: can't move to contest stuff in middle of board, very vulnerable, will be shot up quickly - even counter barrage fire can take them out. Heck, even my 'nids took them out at the beginning of turn 2 and nids are usually terrible at getting to these artillery pieces. It works well as a combined arms list, using the pithead and the assault units in support. I'd rank it below Steel Legion overall.

Right, right.

Sorry for the delay in me being active in this thread.
Have been moving flat for the last 2 weeks :)

Good news, I got in contact with Dark Sphere about hosting our epic local derby and their fee (5 tables, 10am-7pm) can easily be covered.
If we aim for 10 quid per player we can cover it and would have enough left for a sweet trophy.

Here are three possible options for it.
Please post which one you'd like best (if any). They are all about 30cm high.

The engraving would need to be confirmed.

Bad news is that the 16th of May is no longer available at Dark Sphere due to a Warmachine tourney.
Need to enquire if this event really booked all tables because it's listed as a placeholder so far.

Next available Saturday would be the 30th which unfortunately is the weekend of the ETC.

Naturally our clubs could host the event, but...
Personally i would like to push for a more public space for the reason of exposure.

Dark Sphere turned out to be a convenient venue (both for location and space) and would allow to represent London's Epic scene to potential new players.
This month's ITB tournament already showed that there are many people who have Epic stuff but no one to play with or would be potential interested in starting.

Though, their calendar is quite busy already.
Will call them again tomorrow to get more info.

I'd suggest we stick with the 16th as we are all available then. If we can't get Dark Sphere this time I'm sure we can hold another Epic event there a few months later and most of us will be up for that too! If the Warmachine guys don't mind sharing the space that'll mean that there are loads more people in the venue we can show off Epic too.

Right, I spoke to Dark Sphere again and so far the TO of the Warmachine event booked the whole place.

However, Sunday the 17th only has some casual TCG booked in.
A bit hard to tell how busy that will be (can be busy or dead alike) and would eat up a bit more budget but manageable.

What would you guys think about that?

Also awaiting a recall from their event manager.

If all this doesn't work out then we should look into hosting in our clubs. ;)

On a different note, while not everybody is available on the 16th we should be fine to get our team of 5 together. 8)

Later in the year it could be possible that Tanelorn would be able to enter into the inter London club fray.

Depends if some players get armies finished!
