OK, havent had a chance to look at the cockpit yet (been a busy day making a workbench!). I have had a go at the wings though.

These actually created more problems than I was expecting. Im happy with how far back the connectors are and the way they look (pretty similar to the connectors for the movable wings on the thunderhawk). One issue Ive had is the length of the wings. On the picture they are obviously quite long but any longer and they would risk colliding with the turbines when they turn fully forward. Obviously it could be put together so that doesnt happen but Id like it to "work".

(Sorry its not got the other bits there but Ive been taking it apart into sensible bits (and to hollow out the model)

Edit: Oh, I havent put the "sticky out bit" which I would guess are sensors on as I thought they would just snap and that it would be easier to add them on IRL.

That looks better. However,I was thinking about a "V". That is those wings, but at a sharper angle fastened at the centerline of the craft, at the very rear. They would be a cross between rudder and wings. Plus, that way they would not interfere with the turbines.

Well the wings are separate so they can be angled however they look best. I get what you mean about them being on the centre line but I prefer them where they are (it also makes them closer to the picture.

Ive had a bit of a play with the cockpit. I havent changed it too much, just flattened it out a bit:

I much prefer it like this. Still like the original picture but it also seems to help with the look of the scale of it.

Okelidokeli. A matter of taste I suppose. I still think that a more thorough scale adaptation of the cockpit would make it look so much more real, but I can see you have invested much in the current look.

Had a bit of time waiting for Christmas dinner to be ready :p. Off the topic title Ive had a quick go at doing some crusader robots for a Mechanicus army Ive been wanting to do. I know they can be found online but they are usually for £3 each and its hard to guarantee winning a bidding war for them. Also I wanted to modernise it a little to look a bit between the original model and the new robots that FW have released.

I know they arent perfect but they will do as something to try with shapeways (Ive never had anything printed before so need to try out how detailed it is before doing the stormbird):

They may look a little small but they are on bases 20mm in diameter (so bigger than the standard epic individual models come on)

Cheers. Slowly getting more used to the tricks of Sketchup. I think I should have started on smaller projects before going into something as big as the stormbird but it really helped (read that as forced) me into finding out a lot of different tricks.

I'll be trying to get the bots printed from Shapeways so I can check out what the detail is like and use that to judge what I need to change on the stormbird so I dont waste too much money :p

I like those robots, and the stormbird looks promising too.

So I ordered the robots to see what the printing quality was like on shapeways and I'll m really happy with how they turned out. I've thrown in a picture but being made of translucent plasoc doesn't help you get an idea. I threw on a quick wash but I'm still not sure its easy to see.

Anyway, until I have somewhere to undercoat them this will have to do. At least my admech now have some crusaders!

Yeah, I was really impressed that you could make out all the details. They are up on shapeways under "crusader robot" if anyone wants some.

Do you have a link?
All I find is a 60mm crusader that transforms into a vehicle. LOL.
