I wouldn't mind a "may fire 360 from a building" rule IF it was limited to only facings of the building that the squad is within say 5cm of. It makes absolutely no sense to me for a squad to be able to fire out of a facing of a building that they are more than 5cm away from, as allowing that would be the same as allowing them to move while on First Fire. Of course, this is easiest to apply to those building models where one can put the squads on the roof of it. I'd imagine that the majority of building models that cannot have models on it's roof are so small that this would not be an issue.

Of course, if the squad can fire from a facing of a building, they can be targeted from that side of the building as well, so that would help to balance things.

Hi!

I like the "5cm from facing" idea. That a good approximation, easy to remember and not too fiddly.

Most buildings don't cause issues due to size. Larger buildings are really the domain of customs rules.

It may be difficult to propose and construct rules for such buildings, given the wide variety of them.

That seems like a sensible solution, as the "kids" might say, "I'm down with that"!

On a seperate note, I spotted this comment on fb about house rules, thought it was worth consideration. It's talking about the old units swarming Titan rules;

"After a few swarms, we started investing in the cc weapons. My most feared warlord was a Nurgle warlord set up for range except for an energy whip. He was never charged... As for the rule change, I'd agree with a reduction but not elimination of the gang up rules. Instead of a bonus d6, it should just be a bonus +1. That gives an entire suicide company a chance to damage a leg."

Hi!

Doesn't the titans defense systems kill most of them before close combat anyway? Only elite units have a better chance of survival.

It's an interesting house rule though. :)

I had forgotten about that, so much so that I still can't remember the rule. Damn this iPad!

The old breed of buildings maybe when we didn't have much choice, the buildings coming from the new manufacturers (not to mention all the scratch built ones) are introducing all manner of weird and wonderful items to the roofs of buildings or are doomed/spikey in shape or are tall and thin.
I would like to re-iterate my point from the other post, that whatever we decide to do for buildings, we should try and avoid it being related to number models on a roof.

The titan CC rule change was actually my idea. I love titans (and gargants) but I think the loss of the possibility of a swarm taking down a titan makes them far too powerful. It also eliminates some of the old reasons for taking close in weapons. The old SM2 rules, there was not titan close in weapon system that auto-killed units attacking. I can't imagine an entire unit of terminators being unable to even scratch a titan, much less the entire Goff clan dying without any home of hurting a reaver. Just a thought.
