Horus Heresy on an Epic scale

It's a Javelin.

If so, you may wish to start with something simpler, and apply lessons learned to progressively harder subjects.

Had a guess on another forum that its a storm eagle. Not quite. Its a Storm bird (the Heresy era transport before a thunderhawk). Its bigger, more durable but not as manoeuvrable.

Quick pic with the turbines attached.

Got to get working on the nose section now. This is the bit thats likely to cause issues as it should go down to a rounded point.... Could be interesting!

Hmmm... Am I imagining things, or does this image suggest an Ailiens (tm) landning craft with a belly full of very very tiny jump pack marine babies? Scale seems weirdly warped me thinks? Huge "cockpit"?

Yeah, the scale is a bit weird in the picture.... Im still debating what to do on the cockpit. It does appear very large. But then a tiny cockpit would look really weird at the front of the massive body of the craft.... Mmm.... Interesting choices.

Pull the whole SDDF1 thing where it's an entire enclosed command deck, not a cockpit. Of course that interior isn't going to be modeled but how you give that impression visually is by modeling a series of interlocking window panels that give the impression of a glass deck (like a ww2 Flying Fortress concept, not literally a round glass bullet shape). When the panels are larger we mentally "fill" the area with a pilot. When they are small, we think of a larger space. Also if done correctly, it'll contain the same visual design language found on the FW Thunderbricks as well and help tie them together. The round edges on this ship help evoke the 30k stylings common in the older tech while reaching forward to the blocky 40k styles

Ah i remember that image now that does take me back wasn't that picture from the space marine 1 era rules book.

Tis going to be big if you plan on doing it to scale. May want to add thrusters to the rear to balance it out like that big transport flyer from avatar.

Love that idea jimmy. Will have to have a think how I can pull that off.

In terms of scale I was looking at actually not making it too much bigger than a thunderhawk in length. From the DC and the carrying capacity I dont think it needs to be as its the width thats going to give it that. I havent ever seen an image giving a comparison but it feels right for me. It shouldnt be getting to the size of a manta or anything close.A
