Which is surprising - I would have thought 'guard armies would be all over it as it means 1 core, 2 support, 1 warhound rather than another core.

I thought about it but as I don't own one it was a fairly easy decision

;D

While i only managed 2 draws (time got called end of turn 3 each) with my WE list in round 3 & 4 i think i had the right tools to match both Speed Freek lists. Especially in round 3 against Mark Webster both Baneblades done exactly what they where supposed to do... Unleash a storm of bullets taking out up to 50% of the enemy formation and then turning into road blocks with their 4+ reinforced armour. This allowed the mobile Warhound and Death Riders to pick their target and drive back the enemy forces.

Though round 4 against Robert and his Speed Freeks Spam saw three perfect examples of bad dice when a Baneblade managed to cause exactly one hit each time i pushed him towards an Orc mob.
So much to my cunning battle plan ::)

Btw, Robert Hutson's Speed Freeks where a joy too look at using the all new Troublemaker vehicles. A truly impressive Minigeddon horde!

I think the only issue for the superheavy list is it's speed - not an issue when you're playing against speed freeks of course, but against something more mobile like Eldar it could prove a problem for the Guard i'd think.

Thanks to Andy, Gavin, Florian and Richard for 4 really fun games.
Nice to see some great looking armies as well, with Richards' Tau and the 'Diorama' Blood Angels really standing out. ;)
And a big thank you to Florian for all his work in putting on such a great event. :D

Since three of my opponents have already posted reports, just one to go:
Game three: Speed Freaks vs Death Guard of Hoth

Large Speed Freak Warband
2 x Speed Freak Warbands
Warbikes
VS
Death Riders
2 x Baneblades
Warhound

A fun game, with epically good and bad dice rolls from both sides!

With the centre of the board filled with terrain, both sides advanced unimpeded. Florian's Warhound doubled into the ruins, breaking the warbikes before being broken in turn by three pips from Ork shooting. As the last action in the turn, my BTS(Big speed Freaks warband) attempted to assault Florian's baneblade, only to fail its activation roll(even with SC re-roll, sigh). The reason for its hesitancy soon became clear. Successfully assaulting next turn, it lost to the same Baneblade when it made all 8 RA saves!

Seizing their opportunity, the 2 Baneblade's did a great job a mess of my right flank, unleashing hell upon the the broken BTS and the other warband.

Over on the left I need the strike back before all was lost... My luck seemed to turn, as two closely fought assaults, my warbands against the BTS Death Riders and the Warhound both went my way, sending a lone Death Rider scurrying back to his deployment zone.

With everything rallying at the end of turn 2, still all to play for as we moved into the final turn.

Turn 3, and with all my units in my own half of the board, I rushed the rallied warbikes forward to contest an objective and deny Florian the TSNP. Sensing a 2-0 victory, Florian rather heroically charged his one remaining Death Rider into the warbikes! With nobody striking true, a straight dice off killed off the last Death Rider and gave me the BTS.

With all the remaining objectives contested, game ended a draw, fair result for a tightly fought game.

What are people's impressions of the free Supreme Commander for Orks? Is it too much at minigeddon scale.

How about:
Ork Warlords and Bad Ork Mekboys in Minigeddon replace Supreme Commander with the Commander and Leader rules.

That way Ork players still get to use their Warlord/Mekboy models and have some way of having Commander in the list. Worth playtesting?

I wouldn't be completely against testing the 'Everyone has a free SC' upgrade to character option, but depends if people like the added tension of potential failed activations or would prefer more reliable armies?
