Yup. Just waiting to the wife to come back with the good, or should say better, camera and her most important asset for this: Additional arms ;) (what? You thinking of something else???)

This storyline is based on the fluff for our 6 year campaign so I'm assuming fleet and marine allies as well?

As the crusade armies pushed further into the Luarentine depths, the Novan Inquisitorial conclave increasingly became active in the larger strategos planning across a number of battle fronts. Having uncertain goals and a shadowy agenda typical of the Holy Inquisition, hand picked strike teams from the Militarum Tempestus by the Ordos Hereticus were commonly secunded to the larger advances. While nominally under a distinct chain of command and given hidden objectives, the presence of the highly trained Inquistorial teams were still a welcome presence by the Imperial Command, the 964th finding itself in several places fortuitously protected against missed pockets of resistance during the main thrust into the capital with storm troopers suddenly appearing seemingly from nowhere to counter the heretics.

Whether by the Emperor's Grace, Luck, or by the secret machinations of the conclave, the Merkeva forces found themselves helped to overcome the defenses time and time again.

Painters notes:
Decided to support TroubleMaker Games so nabbed a set of the Novan Marines for this. Used army painter Dragon Red spray primer and Chardon Granite on the details with edges picked out with Astronomicon grey. Used a glaze of brown ink over the red to darken the color and then typical black oil paint wash. The base was Vallejo sandy paste and then umber oil wash directly instead of using an acrylic wash first. Snakekbite leather packs painted to break the color scheme up. Not very happy with the color that came out. Seems far too christmasy for my likes (last time I listen to Kyuss for color advice ;D ).

The diversion raid had uncovered a dreadful new enemy responding to the incursion. Despite the insistence of all Imperial intelligence, it appeared that a traitor Astartes force was operating in force and for an unknown time. In short order, multiple confirmed instances of Marine strike forces countering the Imperial advances appeared from the hive ruins to attack with overwhelming force and quickly fading back into the urban ruins. Survivors reported the attackers wearing gun metal armour with yellow and orange construction chevrons present in unknown configurations...
