That website it great. There are a lot of good models there, even for converting to 6mm.

Yeah I do have to admit that the re-use of them as 6mm was something I hadn't thought of. [looks at his giant pile of 'Crons and gets...ideas)

Some color-tests and in-progress notes from my developing mechanical swarm.

I settled on the bronze/gold and blue glowy bits scheme, and then started in on a variety of units.

My plan is to use the Necron Tomb World list. The double-spider units with a swarm will be Tomb Spyders. The single units will likely be Destoryers/Acantrites. The little, separate, swarmy things are obviously Scarab Swarms. The walkers will likely be Monoliths/Obelisks (AV) and the towering serpent will be a Warbarque (DC3). This leaves room to use Puppet War's other even larger centaur-scarab-walker as the Tomb Sphynx (DC5). They might be a little on the large side for their unit type, but given that all the Necron stuff has Living Metal, Reinforced Armor, Think Rear Armor, etc, hopefully it's an acceptable compromise for aesthetics.

The Scarabs are 2mm rhinestones from the craft store. They were especially fun to individually place with tweezers. Luckily I got a bag of a couple hundred because I will be finding the ones I dropped on the floor for months to come. It may be hard to see, but one of the swarm stands has a blue-glow dot for a cyclops eye on each scarab, which while extremely tedious, does finish the look.

Painting as follows, I wanted to keep it relatively simple...
Bodies
- P3 Blighted Gold base
- P3 Rhulic Gold drybrush
- GW Reikland fleshshade wash
- GW Agrax earthshade wash
- (larger models will get some additional metallic accents to break up all the gold)
Accents
- P3 Arcane blue glow
- P3 Menoth White glow highlight
Bases
- (cork rocks and mixed sand)
- P3 Hammerfall Khaki base
- P3 Thornwood Green rocks
- GW Agrax earthshade shade

More to come...
