Just this week there's a great conversation going on an Epic FB group about using EA rules for 40k models.
Is this using Man of Kents rules for conversion ? They look great but haven't had chance to try them.

There's a better chance of Little Gray Men landing there flying saucer on the WH lawn for lunch ... And as I have repeatedly said, who needs GW, when there are now a plethora 6mm Sci-fi minis on the market. Not to mention some good rules sets as well ... And even if you still play the various versions of Epic, NetEpic, etc. ... there really is no shortage of minis with eBay and all the 6mm Sci-fi out there ... Many are denizens of this site ... Onslaught, TMG, DRM, Microworld, CinC, Exodus World, PlasmaBlast, Angel Barracks, etc., etc. ...

I know this....

Just thought it would be a bit of fun to discuss what people would like thats all..... :sos

I have large collections of most of the above, but I would definitely still buy a 30k epic box set... ;D

Sure I see your point ... I'd be much more like to think about Sophia Vegera being my next door neighbor ... :o ;D Then wish'n and hope'n GW would do anything Epic again ... Again there is more of chance of Sophia showing up on my door step than GW ever doing Epic again ... ^-^

Hi!

As a latino, I approve your selection and taste in women. ;)

Primarch

Indeed ! ;D Sorry to go so OT, but this "what if GW re-released Epic" topic, as you know Primarch, like a Nessy sighting. Every so often, someone mentions it and all the same stories, therories, hopes, wishs, predilections , etc. raises it ugly head ... and we're off ! Oh BTW, if Sophia is busy, Selma with work too ... ;D

Hi!

Another excellent choice. :)

Let us not derail the thread any further. ;)

maybe it's the infantry that are wrong ;)

As I see it :

Adeptus Titanicus started somewhere around 1:500 (by scaling the buildings.)

SM1/2 tried to go with 1:300 as it was as small as was possible in plastic infantry (6mm to top of head) and just about worked with the previously released titans. They did mk 1 rhinos/LRs etc to match. Even then however they fudged the vertical scale relative to the horizontal in order to make them slightly taller and look right unbased alongside based infantry.

This continued through most of SM2. Titans and fliers stayed at 1:500ish.

Even this fudge proved impractical (ever seen an original intact SM1 eldar guardian stand :D ?) and the range creeped up to around 1:250 for E40k inf (6mm to eyes.) Towards the end of the plastics era (nids and plastic chaos) they pushed the details even further and the infantry increased to 7/8/9mm??

By the time EA appeared SG models were released in all kinds of scales. FW were at least consistent, producing armour in scale with the new bigger infantry which works out at approx 1/5th of 40k scale. All this is a bit academic as they are fantasy models which don't really make any sense compared to real world armour anyway (as can be seen when compared to real life tanks at 1:300 scale.)

As you say, its the infantry which stuffed it all up! :)

personally I don't really care between armies, but do try to get each army's infantry and AVs something like consistent. Titan sizes always pushed my credibility button when seen in the artwork, so I tend to like to think of them at the size they are. I prefer to keep lighers small simply for practicality on flying stands.

I'm going to assume it is totally okay to post this here, as my contribution to "rather than GW doing epic, I'd hope for this:". Purely in the interest of balance, you understand.

Of course! The only problem is that they're expecting one woman to come to their door before they get new Epic. You're expecting a website-full of men?
If we're getting to ask for things we want instead of an Epic re-release I'd like Planetary Empires on Wii U thanks.

I think if they were to re-release I'd want to see them release it at the same scale, but take a different approach. There are a bunch of races that weren't supported, and I'd love to see one of them being the first release.

Of course, yes we'd also have to have marines. SO the question is how would they do it right? I think they could do a Rogue Trader instead of Horus Heresy thing like suggested, but they would have to inject other races that weren't quite in Rogue Trader days. An alternative would be picking a story at the forefront of their timeline. Something very new, that isn't just some campaign, but is where the 40k universe would be going next. My reasoning for that is that they need to release updated Marine vehicles (and preferable Space Marine armour) if they want the old hands to really buy into it. If the sculpts are noticably different as well as better then we'd all be far more likely to get into it.

Only Rogue Trader era or the latest timeline would allow that without severly restricting what armies are available (since Horus Heresy is basically just Red vs Blue).

I think taking the Spartan Games Firestorm:Planetfall approach would be best, or generally the spartan games model....

Core game, two decent sized starter armies, terrain, templates, rulebook etc

then release extra formations/units/races as discrete boxed sets with a complete starter force inside, and smaller bolt-on boxes to fulfil recon/air/heavy support requirements

however in this respect, they would be late to the market, 6/10mm games generally occupy the same sort of niche and attract the same gamers, they'd end up competing with Hawk and Spartan and while they're comparatively small companies, they kick anything GW produced at these scales into a cocked hat quality-wise....

Aye, and GW still doesn't understand you use your economies of scale and in house production to price cheaper than your competition. Instead they'd price themselves right out of the market and say, "look, no one wants anything but 28mm" meaning 40k .

May be 2 ... ;D Also I do agree, other companies like Hawk etc. ... would probably kick GW's *bleep* ! In this case ... :whistle
