Sorry, but I don't see the issue here. Magnus' system will only appear in the Platinum rules set. Whether players use the system when they play Net Epic Gold is a matter for them. Let's face it, the days of tournaments using 2nd Edition based rules are long gone so I don't see any problem with some players sticking with they what they know and others using the new points costings (so long as both players use the same system when battling one another).

My understanding is that this is the case for all platinum rules, people can apply them to the Gold ruleset if they wish or not use them at all.

Honestly, I don't know that it is a better system. I hope it is, but it hasn't been play-tested as yet, so we just don't know. Frankly, I expect that there are two or three major errors somewhere, and probably several minor ones, that I just cannot see as I'm too close to it. I expect that several of the Special Abilities values will need tweaking.

I have no problem at all with people who prefer to do things in the established, proven way. Heck, I'm like that a lot myself. I've just always had this nagging feeling that the points costs should be based on some mathematically sound system. I'm also in favour of giving people options. Which option they choose is up to them.

My understanding, as I stated above, is there would be a "book" for Gold that contains the various Alternative rules that have been come up with, such as the Points Formula, Evolution, Titan Experience, etc. As far as I was aware, the Points Formula is intended to be the baseline for Platinum and not just an optional system. If it is intended to be the baseline, we really need to get some people doing some play-testing on it to figure out where the bugs are. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do any face-to-face games with other people at the moment or I would do so myself.

Hi!

It will be tested in due time and while I have no doubt it will be tweaked I also believe how it was formulated is leaps and bounds more sound that GW's "pulled out of my rear end" points system. ;)
