Nice looking final piece, but i find the voice gets lost in the music. No music or very very quite music, or fade it out when talking.

Maybe. I think that music is good. The problem is it is very hard to balance sound, so if you're not sure it is often better to leave it out. If you see my videos I actually left them out for the first couple, even though I have a lot of experience mixing sound, because I wasn't sure how it would work with a 'for fun' video I made in my spare time.

I now have very low sound in my latest video. It definitely enhances it, but the sound is always about half the volume of my voice.

Also it is good to get either a couple of tracks, or one long track on repeat. Shorter tracks on repeat can be annoying and take away from the person's voice.

If I use sound I definately need to create some longer tracks. The one I've used is about three mins long and I'm constantly cutting/pasting. I've also discovered that my camera has pretty good sound pick-up, so I can talk while painting (so long as I don't mess-up). Downside, if there can be a lot of background noise at times (my parrot, cars driving past, family members ignoring my 'filming keep out sign'). It's all a learning process.

My main recommendation is that when you bring a model towards the camera for a close up, put your hand (or something else somewhat flatish) behind it as it'll allow the autofocus to figure things out. Seen the guy from Terran Scapes do that to great effect which I consider one of the gold standards of hobby videos (jawaballs and the ichiban studios being the others)

In my last couple of vids (not sure if these are published yet) I've been using a similar set-up. This has a white board filling the camera shot, I then place the mini between camera and board (hanging from the main light stand. It's looking a lot better IMHO. Still the main issue is painting with a camera between me and the mini

Naa these are great. In fact you're inadvertently doing just that with the airbrushing section. Also thank you for the written recap of the paints as well. I cannot tell you the number of times I've watched a 20 minute video and had to go back and try and find some particular paint combo in it.

What's your rig set up btw and what pressure / needle are you using? I always try and geek out on the deeper tech on my airbrushing

H&S Evolution CR Plus mostly using the 0.2 needle (0.15 for detail work). The compressor isn't flash (it has an extra tank) and I run it at about 20psi. My cheap Chinese import airbrush, which I use for basecoating, vanishing etc. has a 1.5 needle.

Also a couple of of points questions:
- first let me state of really dig the look of your OTC. The particular techniques almost give a cell -shaded look to them helping give them that manga / anime vibe
- for the panel lining have you considered using oils instead of lining them by hand? The bonus is not only speed (capillary action does 100% of the work) but you can clean any spillage and overwash with your brush and some white spirit. Regardless, the black lining is perfect for the models! I've come to the conclusion you're a far better painter than I. I'm always having to compensate for mistakes in my techniques
- Not sure if you're consciously doing this or not but when you're doing the edge highlights using a strong overhead light source as you are and having previously sealed the model using semi gloss or gloss varnish, it provides a perfect guide for where to paint the edges. I thought to myself , "hey I've got to remember that one" so thanks!
- your figure 8 paper clip stands are inspired!

I have used oil washes on other minis, never on the OTC. As you say the clean-up is a little messy/smelly.
