Removing all the rivets would be a lot of work, but could be done. Personally the biggest things that makes those bastion towers stand out as not looking epic scale are the viewing slits, I'd have cut them off and filled in the holes or replaced them with something else for sure.

40k defence lasers can look a lot like giant lascannons though, so using 40k ones in epic can be appropriate rather than out of scale. As can be seen from the much larger again laser cannons on the Macragge's Honour (the Ultramarines Legion flagship in the recent HH graphic novel):


On the subject on large scale scenery I'd love to see someone having a go at making one of the eagle drop landers from the cover of the previous IG codex, it's pretty huge with hundreds coming down it's ramp at once and a nice eagle wing design. Probably more more scenario games or huge tables though as it'd cover too much of the table for a regular game.

The artwork of this megacannons are Amazing, GlynG, are them based on 40k background or is another sci fi ambient?

It's official 40k and reasonably new, from a Horus Heresy graphic novel called Macragge's Honour by Dan
Abnett, about the Ultramarine Legion's flagship pursuing the Word Bearer's command ship after the atrocity at Calth.

It's pretty good and worth checking out, I tracked down a copy on the interwebs.

That artwork has the same scale issues. Those immense guns looks like misplaced small-scale lasguns to me. I really do like the models though. They have got a nice Dune Gothic feel. Even with rather limited adaptation to 6 mm.

I replaced the skeletons ,added 6mm entry doors and gun positions around the base.

Not having seen the model first hand I'd love to get some specific details about what you changed if at all possible

Jimmy-
1) I simply left off the plastic extended corners with the spiked top on the base.
2) I then added on the large gun unit a small turret and a vent from a beetleback warlord plus an aquilla on the gun barrel as seen on the bottom photo.
3) I covered the 4 skeletons around the large gun with a robed figure holding a sword.
4) base- I added Vulcan mega bolters on every alternate panel and the robed icons with swords or a door on alternate panels of the base.
All the non kit parts used were made from green stuff . I didn't buy anything extra.
