I have to say I like that terrain - the roads/river are very simple, but very effective. Are they bought or home made?
Thanks Shelfunit, appreciate the kind comment! Everything other than the buildings which are a mix of Space Marine and Angel Barracks minis is home made. I am no modelling expert by a long shot, and don't pretend that my terrain is the prettiest you'll see by a long shot. But here's a basic guide as to how I did it, and I'm confident that pretty much anyone could do this themselves.
The board: Bought a 6' x 4' board and got it cut in half to 2 6' x 4' boards. I screwed both boards together using hinges. I then bought grass sheets from my local model shop and glued them to the boards. I deliberately cut strips on the long ends of the board in order that the deployment zones for the battles were obvious. I've been using these boards for about a decade now and they are still in reasonable shape.
Hills: I cut polystyrene tiles into various shapes and glued them together to make the rough hill shape. I then used the same grass sheeting that I used on the board, cut it to size, wrapped it around the "hill" and glued it to the polystyrene. With hindsight, I wish I'd used more polystyrene to make the hills a little higher.
Rivers: I bought good quality A2 sheets of blue card from my local art shop then my brother used a modelling knife to cut the card freehand.
Woods: Done exactly the same way as the rivers except with green card. The card was pierced to take the model trees.
Bridges: These are homemade also, cut using grey card and pinned together with cocktail sticks and glue.
Roads: Black card cut to various sizes (roughly based on the old tiling system from Space Hulk). I then used a ruler and a tipp-ex pen to draw the lines on to the streets.
Hope this helps!
