No posts for a month what a bad show. :)

Anyway a small update on project castellum she is almost ready to mould up. I have sanded down the bottom of each piece to get it as flat as possible, corrected a few mistakes and used green stuff to fill holes and other flaws as best i can. I'll give it another looking over and then give it a go, wish me luck. ;)

So seeing Matty_C's old school guard elsewhere on these pages i was inspired to dig out my old guard for a viewing and decided to take some pictures. This was my first ever finished army which has had the odd new item or two added to it now and again, all vehicles are FW.

Pictures then:

Before taking the plunge and jumping in at the deep end mould making wise with the castellum i thought i'd better try making something a little smaller and more straight forward being as i've never done mould making or casting. So i've had this idea in my head to update the look of the old Mk2 plastic landraiders by adding new sponsons to them to give them the Mk2B look upgrade.

Useing a set of old Otterware Mk2B metal sponsons i made a mould and cast them up. :)

Will post a few pics of these glued to the LR for effect once i've gotten around to it.

Thanks jimmy!

They have come out better than expected considering i needed to include the guns on the cast. I filled in behind them with plastic strip which leaves waste material on the final casting but this is easily removed with a knife.

Pics up later this evening as i need to resize them for posting.

Cheers +psypher+

So here we have the pictures of the cleaned up and fitted sponsons. I think you'll agree that it updates the plastics nicely.

On other news the castellum moulding is on hold as i did not have enough lego to make the mould walls with, rectified now as i just ordered a box of lego bricks from Amazon which should arrive mid week. I will hopefully be making the moulds later in the week so stay tunned if you are interested in seeing how i get on.

Land raider looks great. Those sponsons dress it up nicely.

As for the guard; inspiring! Love how you've managed to paint the details into the squads, like sergeants and orderlies. Very nicely done.

Cheers guys.

Matty_C, yes i did go a bit over the top with these but i have the original 40K figures of these guys and decided to duplicate the colour scheme to match. I always did like the old standardised guard though so was inspired to try and replicate the colours and markings of old.

Sounds familiar...
Nice job on the commissars to btw.
Love that detailing on the edges of the greatcoats. Very neat. Puts my black and grey blobs to shame.
