good point @Rug

I'm in the german team and I think that this event will be a great fun. So don't bother with the fact that you maybe play one game out of 5 against a guy from your country.

Well, to follow Rug's suggestion, it would be very simple to wait for everyone to register their attendance, and then to populate two 'groups' of players, group 'A' & group 'B', such that everyone from a single country is put in a single group. Then simply match up games between the two groups. This way, no-one would play a person from their own country. Indeed it would also be extremely easy to set up the matches beforehand by listing "A1" vs "B1", "A2" vs "B2" etc down to "An" vs "Bn", and then at the appropriate time you can assign each person to a given 'slot'.

As people will also belong to "teams", the team score is also easy to calculate, and everything else would work as before.

I don't see why everyone who can and wants to attend can't just sign up, then we'll sort out teams and THEN how the teams will play one another.
This. Get lots of people signed up and then Brumbaer as host can decide how to best organise them at that point!

The important thing is to have a lively friendly event where Epic players from across Europe can meet each other and have some fun games.

Can I also add that German beer is rather good and I am surprised that that has not been interwoven into the weekend in some way ;).

Which beer is best - British or German? In the name of scientific research I suggest that the only way to know for sure is to test* lots of both countries' beer. :)

*by 'test' I mean drink, drink, and then drink some more.

Latest information on the "national teams".
The Austrian players do not expect to form a national team,
the Hungarian players are confident to be able to form a national team,
the French players are still a man short and the verdict is still out wether they will continue to try finding a fourth man or post in the "Player/Team" thread.
There might be a second German team forming.

So current situation

4 slots taken by national teams (Germany, Sweden, UK - and reservation for Hungary)
3 slots free for regional team
1 slot undecided, but as the Player/Team thread doesn't really show any pressing need for a decision on that slot, I will postpone it.

Have a nice week.

By regional team, do you mean 3 slots for German teams, or 3 slots free for any people who are free to form a team themselves?

A regional team is a team of players who do not belong to a national team for whatever reason.
The idea being to help players of the same nation to find each other and to allow neighboring nations that can't field a team on their own, to form a combined team.

The procedure will be:
Every four players not part of a national team will be pooled.
End of July the players in the pool will be formed into 4 player teams by region (alas regional team).

Let's say there are 3 French, 2 Hungarian, 1 Austrian, 1 German and 1 Italian player in the pool.
The French will form a team with the Italian and the Austrian, German and Hungarians will field the second team.

The first priority is to keep players of the same nationality in the same team. Depending on the nationality of the attendants this might lead to a somewhat loose interpretation of "neighboring and regional".
On the other hand it is possible that a regional team despite it's name consists of players of only one nation.

No, not really.

UK, Sweden and Germany say they take part - for Germany I can vouch.

France and Hungary seem to have 3 players each who are interested and seem to hope/believe to find a fourth player, but do not seem to be in a hurry, as they are supposedly not as depended on flight connections or it's probably just the summer holiday season.

Not much action in the player/team thread, probably people not posting, because there's nobody else posting - probably not much interest - probably do not want to be put into a team with somebody else. Don't really know.

We speaking as organizer realize that there might be some problems and that it might take time to catch on,
we see it as an ice breaker event preparing hopefully the ground for the next EECs wherever they may take place - and will pull through as long as some teams are interested.

I will prepare an tournament pack in August, with additional info, but it's nothing game changing, just the ordinary, where to find us, schedule, handling of terrain, referee and so on.
If I find the time I'll update AGen with the tournament lists.

I'll repeatedly (is this the right word?) contact the French and Hungarian teams to see wether there is some progress in one or the other direction.

Wouldn't know any other national Epic Forums where to advertise, Czech, Polish, Spanish, Belgian forums any suggestions or contacts ?

Publishing it in Tabletopturniere might be a good idea, there are mainly German, Austrian and French players. I'll talk to our "expert" about it.
