Hey,
2014 has so far been a very bad year for hobbying (but a good year on the job, so I guess it all balances). I've played rather fewer games than I wanted, and the painting queue has just grown and grown.
I did, however, find time for a project I promised to undertake last December: An Epic Club Army for my gaming club. They're all Warhammer aficionados to a fault (the name of the club is "Emperors Pride", and for good reason), but they all tend to play in awkwardly large scales (28mm) with rather poor rulesets. So, thought I, if a suitable club army was readily available, it might be easier to sway some my fellows to play in the proper scale, with a tactically enticing set of rules.
Naturally, the club army had to be Codex Space Marines, and a paint scheme already existed, since there is a club army for 28mm scale:

I wanted to make an army with as varied a collection of Epic Space Marines as possibly, staying as close to a standard Codex battlegroup as possible. So, off to the bits box and the pile of old 1st and 2nd edition Space Marine models I went:

There's a few spare characters, and conversions using the spare weapons from 40K era hunters and whirlwinds, but otherwise most everything here was readily available.
Another club member (cheers Corran_dk!) chipped in a spare Thunderhawk, along with some Scouts and Terminators, and suddenly we were looking at a 3750 points army:
