Looking forward to the Dwarfs getting some paint, and well done on the 28mm figs the painted faces really came out well ;)

Thanks Epic, not sure when I'll get back to the Dwarves. This is going to be a 'nid and knight year.

Here's the result with the spray rubber:

Image

I pretty much spray a piece of vinyl with it, let it dry, sprayed it again, sprinkled some tan flock on there, covered it with snow flock, and placed a book over it while it dried.

Image

I think it came out alright. There's some warping, so it's currently sitting under a book to see if it will flatten out. I'm also going to try and hit it with a coat or two of dullcote. The tan flocking stuck alright (I brushed a lot off) but the snow flocking stuck very well I think.

Cool idea Dave, hopefully it works out any you'll have a valid solution to snow coverage.

Looking forward to your Knights, and the Orlocks are sweet, that was my first Necromunda gang back in mid/late 90s and a bit of a trip down memory lane.

Thanks. I've got two more getting their first coat downstairs at the moment. I'm hoping to have some new terrain ready for a May games day or perhaps NEAT.

I've been slowly building and converting these past weeks. First up are some shots of my Heirodules. I never liked how these things walked on four legs and on the tops of their claws while looking up at the sky, so some heavy converting was called for.

Image

To get them on two legs and off their toes I clipped off the toes and replaced them with 40k Warrior hooves. They're somewhat balanced but at the moment I'm hoping that the glue on the base will be strong enough to hold them upright. If not, I'll have to get creative. To keep them from looking up at the sky I took a saw to the body and head where they meet the thorax. That'll need some putty.

Image

These are their front claws. I shortened them and used 40k Trygon arms here. The plan is to attach these to the head, where the weapon arms normally go. The weapon arms will be magnetized on the thorax, and will sit below the body. I thought it would look better and match the aesthetic of everything else: claws up top, weapons in the middle, legs.

Image

Next up are some Knights. Here's my Baron, sans a few skulls.

Image

And Castellans...

Image

And Crusaders, not much conversion on either of these.

Image

Here's my first three Lancers and their Seneschal.

Image

The next three I'm converting to be right leg up, left down. It's opposite of the stock pose and I figure it'll add some variety.

Image

For my Paladin Seneschals I just gently bent the legs a bit to give the impression of them walking. The weapon positions also add to the effect.

Image

Finally, the Errants got the same treatment but I also removed one of the sections between the leg and hip as it looks a little more natural. This required some extensive pinning though. For the next four I'll be doing the same thing and seeing about twisting the torsos in different directions.

I presume they are the mid size FOW base on the Knights? They look good and might look to do something similar with mine, I don't like the height the standard round slotta base gives them but I think those slimmer ones will look good along side 6mm tanks and infantry. I imagine the Lancers are also less likely to topple over now.

The Nids will look good when finished, that's some significant work on the bio-titan.

The knight re-posing looks great, especially the lancers.

Rubber spray is interesting, not something i've come across before.

I have to admit I stole the idea for the FoW bases. I ordered a bunch of the smalls and some medium and large for my various armies I'm building right now. They look great. I use them for my vehicles and flyers to so that I can spiff up the base. Thanks for the idea!

I finished up eight bases of trees for the snow terrain, just four more to go. I picked up three bags of 21 trees for something like $12 at a Home Depot right after Christmas. They're normally $6 a bag, which is still pretty cheap at $0.30 a tree. I'm still combating the mats curling, I've got two getting the rubber spray on their undersides at the moment to see if that helps.

Image

I also puttied one of the Heirodules this week. His arms are done as well, I just need to glue them on. I'm hoping to get the other one to the same point next week and magnetize the weapon arms as well.

The first Heirodule's all built. I finished up the body and weapons this week, magnetizing all six of them for maximum flexibility. I'll be finishing up the second one this week and working on the 'phant as well. After that it's on to the three Harridans I'd like to build.

Image

The Scything Talons up front are its regular talons with a few sections taken out. I used some 40k Trygon arms for the lower parts.

I call this the "Maybe little pinch?" configuration.

The Heirophant's body got finished up this week. All that's left for him are his weapons. I'm hoping to tackle those tomorrow and start working on my three additional Harridans.

Image

Image

Here a size comparison with my Dom, he's still pretty big even with the arm swaps.

Image

Finally, here's a shot of my second Heridule that I never took a pic of. Pretty much same as before, just different leg positions.

So apparently I have a painting blog, who would of thought? The last couple of months have been quiet on the update-front, but only because assembly isn't all that exciting. Anyway, I've been working on my Knights. Here's some Paladins.

Image

And some more Paladins. I'm trying something new for the bases, both for colors and some additional ruins for terrain. I took four of the old E40k ruins from the base sprues and cut them into four to five parts each and spread them across my 35 Knight bases.

Image

All of the Knights had some leg conversions and some torso twisting to break up the uniformity of the poses. The Errants took a little bit more work than the Paladins because I needed to remove a ring between the hip and leg, as they stuck out too far otherwise.

Image

The Lancers took the most work, I converted three to be right leg up. That involved cutting each leg off, cutting each at the knee and swapping the lower parts before gluing them all back together.

Image

I still need to add the hydraulic/pneumatic parts above the knee, as they got filed off during the process.

Image

Finally, the Baron, Crusaders and Castellans are all stock.

Image

Image

Image

I also put together three more Harridans along with a mess of the smaller LV/AV bugs

Image

Image

And last but not least, I'm working on some objectives using some spare Bio-Titan talons I had. These are going to be my capillary tower T&Hs.

Image

I'm still thinking on the Blitz, it'll either involve these or be something akin to a Sarlacc.
